Want to Sit Closer to Instruments Panel in Cockpit

Somewhere on forums a guy showed how to mod a .lua file so the pilot sits closer to the instrument panel in cockpit. It was just a matter of changing some numbers.

I don't know where I saw it or what file to modify.

Anybody know how it is done ?

It's probably simpler to use TIR or keys to move to where you want to be, then press RALT + KP 0 (zero) to make that the default view.

Then when you center your view, that's where you'll end up.

Cheers.

This "might be" what you are looking for https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1587429#post1587429

However, I recommend that you simply Adjust/Customize the Default Snap View for each aircraft and seat position (when it works ... it is currently working correctly).

Here is a link to those instructions >>

I think you will find the latter solution MUCH better than using any MOD or from playing around with .lua files.

LoL - Shall we both give him the same advice shall we ?

That link is "use TIR or keys to move to where you want to be, then press RALT + KP 0 (zero) to make that the default view." broken into 14 steps.. ;)

Cheers.

For me when you sit closer to the instruments you will loose an overview of your situational awareness. The wider your field of view the better you will manage your hover/approach in tight confined situations. Try driving your car through a letter box.

For me the wider the view the more I understand my surroundings.

The zoom function should be analogue, regularly used and as close to your fingers (Hotas) as possible.... This will also serve you very well in the hunter killer mode!

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

this, in fact, is a compromise between awareness and ability to judge distances and the size of things.

there's only one true FOV value, which can be calculated acording to your monitor width and distance from your eyes to the center of the screen.

if you have access to head tracking, like TrackIR or VR, that would be the ideal FOV, because it gives you a 1:1 representation of the world... anything past that will give you distorted information of how things really are.

if you can't have access to head tracking, you feel the need for a wider FOV and that's fine, up to a point.

I do agree,

Track IR is just the mutts nuts until I go VR.

The zoom function in my home pit is analogue and works just as hard as my stick, throttle and pedals. I believe I have found a compromise that suits me extremely well.
