I currently have a 120GB SSD for 2.5, and it's apparently not enough. 97GB used, only 111GB total available. I'm looking into getting a larger SSD but don't want to drop $160 on a 500GB drive. I'm looking at 250GB, but I'm questioning if, with all the constant updates bloating the 2.5 install, it will be large enough. The recommended system requirements on the DCS home page are inaccurate as well.

What's the end-user consensus for recommended disk size?

Afaik usual sizes are 120GB, 250GB, 500GB. So that leaves not much choice in your case, right?

Also considering that the most space is used for maps and 100 GB is worth 3 - 4 (taking the DCS base install into account) maps today, a 250 GB SSD should last for another 4-5 maps easily. That should cover the next 5-10 years of development time, if you ask me. :-)

On the other hand, more space is never a bad idea. It is not like it is wasted. You can always use additional space for other stuff.

Maybe 250GB will work then. I only have two maps and don't particularly plan to get many more. My old 120GB can be used for storage or video recording.

Size is very important...also consider the speed...not all are equal, I personally recomment the Samgsung EVO 850, 500gb...good cost per gig and very fast

Asus ROG MAXIMUS X Formula

Intel i7- 8700K 4.8ghz

Asus GTX 2080ti OC edition

64 Gb RAM at 3200mhz

Kraken X 72 cooler

Samsung CHG90 monitor at 144 htz

DCS on M.2 drive 500 Gb

I've a full install (all maps & aircrafts) of DCS, plus Windows, plus my Saved Games folder on a 250 GB (nominal) SSD and it still has 72 GB free (out of 237 GB), so it can be done provided you have a secondary hard drive where to put everything else :)

That's actually what I have right now, just in 120GB. I had no idea it was one of the fastest. Guess I lucked out.

To be honest, now, if i get more SSD (own now for my windows SSD a 250g Kinston which filled fast with system only and sone softwares and one for al my toehr sutff and mainly game a Sansung 850 EVO 1T, and to be honest with constant grwing size of stuff, i wouldn't never buy new SSD below 500g... but that's my own opinion. I regret now rushing out and not wait and buy a 250g only.
