AG-51_Razor Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 I have gone back some 9 or 10 pages to see if I could find my previous request to just bump it but it must be further back. I'd like to request that ED implement a system whereby we can view the map in 3D while placing objects. The present method of trial and error is way too cumbersome and, now with 2.5, time consuming. Please try to get this done. I know that ED has acknowledged this request from many of us in the past and have stated that it is on their to-do list. With all of the awesome looking objects available to place in DCS World, why not make it easier to do? The mission builders would churn out such eye popping environments in their missions that you could get lost just looking at all the stuff. As it is now, the airfields and targets are constructed with the bare minimum for the most part and when you do come across one that has a lot of atmosphere in it, you know that it took the mission builder hours and hours to make it! :helpsmilie: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Northstar98 Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 (edited) +∞ At least an accurate top-down silhouette (even if just a silhouette) and say another 2 zoom levels (for infantry). Ideally it would be the standard icons up until the more extreme zoom levels where it changes to a silhouette from an icon. Having trees accurately portrayed in the ME was a big step forward, but we've still got some ground to cover. An editor like Arma 3's EDEN would be absolutely perfect - the current 2D view should be retained as it's more useful for setting aircraft waypoints and parking than a 3D editor, but for ground units, static objects and naval assets a 3D editor is almost essential - ideally both should be available (like EDEN). Just a side note, it would be great if static objects could use the template system, nothing is more painful than trying to do a well-done FARP or FOB, it first taking ages to do in the first place because of the extreme trial and error associated (that doesn't guarantee success by the way), but then not be able to duplicate it/rotate it to suite the terrain, as well as for other missions. AG-51_Razor Posted April 12, 2018 Author Posted April 12, 2018 The accurate top down silhouette with more zoom would be a start but it wouldn't help a bit with the placement of objects on less than level ground. But it WOULD be a start! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

cypc Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 have to bump this, it is so difficult to place objects on a guess. Dude if you took 2 minutes to check before random posting you'd know we have 2d view of units available for testing right now in Open Beta https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215030 "You don't rise to the occasion, you fall to your level of preparation."
