Yeah roger, but it depends on how far Alfa has gotten on the model that needs to be remapped. If he's only got the high-poly one only edited, then I can send the low-poly one. If he's got the low-poly one all hooked up with animations, then he should send it.

Since I couldn't export the low-poly version to *.lom format, I haven't done any animations on it :) .

Yeah all that's bunched up now and missing some of the old tracks, and thanks

Just an update. Right now so we stay legal, the plan is to have two 2048 x 2048 texture maps for the bird, so that should be plenty enough, and incorporated in a CDDS file. Just JetwasH needs to get hot :D

IMO it would be better to swap out the F-18A(has a separate shape file).....thats what I did anyway.

I second that! A is slowly being taken out of USAF active sevice and replaced with Super Bugs while C has a lot of work to do around yet.

Uh, the A never served with the USAF, you mean USN right?

The F-18c never served with the Marine Corps...turns out that all that was just a propaganda ploy to develop a roach spray that doesnt kill the roaches but fills them with self doubt as to whether or not they are in the right house.

Hell if I know, JetwasH so far hasn't said boo, so I may be looking into somebody who can help me out. A reliable person, fo sho.

Ok, PM's checked.

Will see what can be done for the texture mapping..

Is that all that needs doing?

Is the model ok, or are there any problems with it that needs changing?

Well there are missing faces, so it'll have to be touched up with that. I re-sent the model in .3ds so you shouldn't (hopefully) have the mental ray issues...

Umm, just a little bit of constructive criticism about the model. Because of the blackouts in your screen shots it was hard to tell, but the nose on the "Rhino" seemed to be a little too short and stubby. Also, the landing gear didn't seem beefy enough. And last but not least, the landing gear is not in the correct position while in flight. The nose gear appeared as it would if it were lining up on the cat and the hydraulics were compressed, and the rear landing gear swing. The configuration they were in would be when the aircraft is on the ground. I understand this may just be a animation procedure that you have not yet done. Other than that, good job. A good place to find pictures of the super hornet for reference is airliners.net.

Yup, so far it's coming along. Alot of things had to be redone, so more than likely it'll be a bit over the 50k limit, but oh well :)

Some updates, it turns out the 26k poly version was a little more messed up than I had expected (or anybody really). Anyways, Sundevil has taken up the effort in correcting the model, and here's what he's correcting, and has done:

What he's fixed.

What's being fixed

He has the original model so he's steadily redoing and replacing parts as needed, with the colored objects so far the items that were fixed.

Just a slight update. Pretty much, Sundevil is redoing the whole model. As mentioned when it was cut down, it was pretty much, jacked up. There's another word, but hey, gotta watch the old language. At this time he's redoing the nose as of last asking, so it's still being worked on, it's just taking some time.. So I guesstimate final poly count.... 50-60k, maybe more, but hopefully that will be okay.

The modeller, Sundevil, is using Open FX Designer to view it, and you can see it on the upper lefthand side with the fuselage ;)
