Just my opinion: I think you might be better off getting just one 8800 GTX, instead of the GTS in SLI. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a game within the next year or so that will the GTX won't be able handle and it would cost less than buying two GTS's.

Save the extra money you would spend on two GTS and upgrade from the GTX in a year or so...

Well no I allready have one 8800 gts 640 installed so It's really not that big of a deal to install one more..

Anyway I was just looking at the performace chart and saw that the 8800 gts in SLI and its almost in line with the 8800 ultra in some cases..

I was planning to set up SLI but after seeing this I'm going to do it a lot sooner....:smilewink:

Just got news form the store my last few components have arrived. I will pick them up in 2 hours and start building today. Will post my findings tomorrow.

AMD Barcelona (x4) is due out July, and Intel Penryn (45nm) is also due Q3/Q4. I won't be gettin them since they will most likely cost me an arm and a leg. But I do smell a price war around that period on current chips like C2D, C2Q, and X2. So I am gonna wait till late July/ early August. Until then my ghetto P4 3.2 stays.

AMD X2 5600/6000 is already inexpensive, going around 150~210USD, so I wouldn't be surprised if they drop to around 120USD within the next month or two, when Barca makes debut. I am thinking of getting the AMD X5600/AM2 mobo combo for under $250 when that does happen.

According to tomshardware.com's reviews, contrary to what many are led to believe, AMD x2 chips are perfectly comparable in performance to C2D, provided that you are not using your machine for heavy encoding purposes. Also I am not a big fan of C2Q, you lose out on many advantages of C2D like overclockability, reduced heat generation, and low power consumption.

Im Runing on the QUAD right now. Hardware isntalation has been flawless but Im having a litle bit of a few quirks with Windows SP2. Causes me BSOD's when I run certain programs. I cant run Zone alarm Firewall for example.

will report on perfomance later.

You know...Vista would work really good right about now... :P

I have partialy solved some problems in the build and I am now able to stress this system.

LOMAC runs with twice FPS as my AMD64 3200 with details maxed out, but it still plummets to 15-18 FPS over large cities, wow does this game need raw CPU power or what!

Heres some pics from the build and Benchmarking. Take note that this system is pretty stock "virgin" and untweaked, all settings to standard and no Optimizations yet.

Wow, that's mighty high CPU score. My E6600 dual core isn't even half that score. Wonder what you would get with little overclocking. I was surprised how well intel CPU's overclock. I changed nothing to my cooling... not even faster fan speed and still using OEM CPU fan, and I was able to overclock to 2.62GHz (from 2.4) with no change in temperature.

With all that CPU horsepower, you're probably seeing slow fps in some areas of LOMAC because it's not multi-threaded... but you knew that already right? Try overclocking it after you gave it a good burn-in. That should improve fps somewhat.

My OC'ed system has 10400 3DMark score. Lower CPU score than yours but faster graphics thanks to 8800GTX.

CPU score is double in 3D mark because its multi threaded. Single threaded apps will give similar perfomance on both systems. Quad does give awsome resposiveness though, you can run OS games and processes all in seperate CPU's.

Room for another GTS: very nice… :D

That is one huge piece of cooling element in there ;)

That's a nice system Pilotasso... go easy with overclocking in the start then when things are looking stable go higher (but I think you know this already  )

You got already some OC results?

BTW, AMD Phenom FX not before Xmas in stores! (Looks not good I guess)

No, I havent donne any OC yet mainly because perfomance has been stellar with LOMAC with max detail with hardware on stock settings. I may also buy another sound card because some appps dont like my onboard sound chip causing me some blue screens. I will make some trials later this weekend to see if I can do 1333Mhz FSB and 3GHz CPU.

Regarding Phenon, latest news are it has been delayed again possibly to 2008. Rumour has it AMD has been having difficulties scaling those CPU's beyond 1.6Mhz.

Pil got my quad running 3.44ghz 4threads orthos stable at 1.34volts H20 cooled. So ya you can run a quad as fast as its duo counterparts. I've hit 3.7ghz but thats just for a 190,000 score in aquamark for fun lol.

Nice build by the way.
