Invicta Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TkTbSDy_CY&mode=related&search= Check this out. According to the titel it should be a Su27 HUD cam, however if is an SU27 it is moving at rediculously slow speeds. I hear a constant whining noise while it's flying up high. My guess is that is a stall-whistle? Am I correct? Anyway, the video does not make much sence to me. I'm hoping one of you who speaks russian can translate some of the comms and can make sence of it all.
EvilBivol-1 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 The footage is from a MiG-AT prototype. It suffered an FCS malfunction during a test flight and the pilot performed an emergency landing, during which the tail section was substantially damaged. In the video, he can be heard getting ready to eject numerous times. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
Invicta Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 Wow ok, cool. Thanks for the quick response!
Force_Feedback Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 The original footage is in color, a mystery to my why some a-hole converted it into black/white. In some Russian documentary on test pilots this footage can be seen, as the 1990 Su-27 crash in Italy (fatal, no ejection), and a Mig-29 going WAY over its AoA limit (70 degrees at least) at low altitude above a forrest (no ejection), the strange thing is that the commentary says it's the 1989 Paris airshow crash, well, it's all except that :( Notice how 'Nadia/Rita/Betty/whoever' says what to do after a failure, and what the limitations/procedures are and not some lame 'right engine failure!' like on the real F-15, if only we got that in lock-on :/ Another interesting feature is that the voice warning system also transmits the warnings to ground control, no need to model that in lomac, but still :P Damn we need realistic warnings on the Russian jets, but nobody gives a damn, it's all about some chopper, which probably has either the 'lite' version or the same lame and limited warnings as the Mig-29/su27(k)/su-25T in lomac 1.12a :( Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
EvilBivol-1 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 On final, he is heard deciding whether to go for the dirt strip to the side or the concrete runway. He chose the runway, but I'm wondering if his hesitation had more to do with SOPs or his faith in the quality of Russian concrete. :) - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. ED Team Groove Posted March 22, 2007 ED Team Posted March 22, 2007 Did he landed with ~ 130 kmh ? Nice one :D Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
Force_Feedback Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Oh come on, can't you see at least some familiarity with the Mirage-2000? Hint: avionics. The really nice thing is that he had less that 150kg of fuel left when he was like 50km from the runway, and he had no elevator controls (all engine power). Really brave of him not to eject over the designated area. Too bad there is no video of the Yak-130 that DID crash due to some FCS fluke, also it had 2 pilots, both ejected safely. Aeroscout Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I noticed it had an American HUD. (obviousally) why is this. or do they all have this type of HUD now? DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
nscode Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I would say knots :) Damn we need realistic warnings on the Russian jets what use do you have from those if you don't have all the systems modeled :| Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Force_Feedback Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Oh, ok, enough with the hints, it;s the MIG-AT remember when they said you could select what type of aircraft you want it to emulate? Well, this baby has French avionics (no American stuff), very, very similar to the Mirage-2000 and Bae Hawk. Hence the 'wierd' hud. Oh, real su-27 HUD cams record at 8fps and are part of the internal ACMI system, not nearly as interesting as this, and stuff shown on it is probably still sensitive.
