IceFire Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Hey there folks, So, the runway and airfield lighting has gotten very dim of late.. The night environment itself is amazing now and I'm very thankful for that. Which makes me want to fly more at night.. However, the airfield lights do several things that really prevent this at least from a visual standpoint. First of all they're extremely dim compared to how they should be. This is on NTTR as well although its better there. Secondly they disappear when your more than a few miles outside of the airfield. I didn't see any threads on this so I figured I'd start one. I can post screenshots if needed but really the only way I've found to fly at night and do visual approaches is to fly during a full moon and pick up the runway lights a couple miles out and squint at them. :megalol::megalol: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Matt "IceFire" Schuette Commander In Chief United States Atlantic Command Virtual Carrier Air Wing Eleven
Emmy Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 It's a known issue DCS wide. The fix is supposed to come after the Persian Gulf map is released and its night shading system works upstream to Caucuses, Nevada and (I assume) Normandy. terminator363 Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Ok, now that Caucasus is updated (and looks beautiful) airfields are totally in the dark except for blue taxi lighting. How come? Happy Bug Hunting!
birkenmoped Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 The last time I flew in the Caucasus, all I had to do was call the tower for take-off and / or landing, and the approach lights and runway lights were switched on. But I didnt check the last two weeks/updates...
terminator363 Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Huh everything seems to work after the update today. So is turning off the approach lights a war time thing or is it a power saving option? :megalol: Happy Bug Hunting!
draconus Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Well, depending on use and traffic, the lights are not constantly on. http://www.cfinotebook.net/notebook/aircraft-operations/terminal/airport-lighting Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
