HorNet505 Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 gents I get 45FPS now and I like to get more FPS if possible. I like to know if it makes sense to upgrade my CPU or my graphic card. I use i7 4930K (3.4GHz) 32GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Anything I can improve here? dburne Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 If you could get that CPU overclocked to over 4 Ghz it would likely help some. Do you have a decent cooler on it? Thick8 Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Yes overclocking is a great way to get some free/cheap extra FPS. For the price of a used CPU cooler and a couple of case fans you can often times pull an extra 20% performance out of your rig. Overclockers.com and overclock.net are a couple of excellent places to get an idea of what you can hope to expect. wormeaten Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Your CPU goes to 4.3 GHz with a decent air cooler. GPU is top Only ti is better. You could also OC GPU as well, check some tutorial for it. This should raise your performance in general for around 15 - 20%. What is not clear is it 45 FPS in V$, 4K or just 1080p?
Quadg Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 the 4930k is a good overclocker. mine has been running at 4.5 ghz for over 4 years. on air cooling. My Rig: AM5 7950X, 32GB DDR5 6000, M2 SSD, EVGA 1080 Superclocked, Warthog Throttle and Stick, MFG Crosswinds, Oculus Rift.
Strong05 Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 OC the cpu first. RAM clock speed is also good for DCS. I saw noticeable improvements in frame rate going from ~2200 to 3300. Not sure what the returns are past that in 2.5. 5800X3d, 32GB DDR4@3400, 6800 xt, Reverb G2, Gunfighter/TMWH
