DocHoliday14 Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Viggen spawned backwards at a senhaki hangar. Fortunately I coped because of reverse thrust. However, still unfortunate.
ouPhrontis Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Neat trick, the AV-8 can also do that, as the nozzles go beyond vertical, though I highly doubt you'd see anyone do that in reality as it'd make a Royal mess of anything not nailed down. danvac Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 I have similar issue in 2.5.1 OpenBeta. I have placed Spitfire (Client) on Mina Airport - Nevada - takeoff from runaway. It got spawned facing correctly when played in single player. But oposite direction in MP so I have to turn 180 degrees before takeoff.
ouPhrontis Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 I found this in the LSO manual, regarding AV-8Bs reversing under their own thrust; 7.2.7 Backing Up. Aircraft backing up under its own power is not preferred. If required the procedures are as follows: 1. Set 35-percent rpm (406/406A), 40-percent rpm (408). 2. Select braking stop. 3. Select idle once the aircraft is rolling. 4. Monitor maximum idle JPT. 5. Follow the taxi director signals by stepping on the rudder pedal to which the taxi director points. CAUTION Judicious use of braking is required to avoid striking the tail of the aircraft while backing. Eldur Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Noticed that as well, the Viggen has to go out of the shelter backwards, ever since 2.5 is out. My Harriers do not however even though they could. Interesting info on the Harrier though. It definately does not move with 40% at 98.5 nozzles. Around 48ish it does. But well, that's the DCS tarmac glue I guess. There are lots of planes that need more than 80% of RPM to get moving in the first place. I can't even imagine that being realistic at all. I mean, what are parking brakes an even chocks there for after all when you have to advance yout throttle lever more than halfway down to the wall to make the plane move at all?
