BarTzi Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 (edited) Apologies if it has already been reported (I didn't find any similar threads), or if it's the way it's supposed to work in real life. This is the problem I'm having: I spawn in the air south of Batumi (my INS is aligned). I have 1 WP on the runway of Batumi, placed in the editor. When the WP's info is displayed on the moving map, the Icon's location is off (it's actually in the sea, and isn't near the runway icon on the map). In addition to that, the icon drifts forward as I fly towards Batumi. The only time the icon is displayed where it should is when I fly above the WP's location. This is obviously worse when you have more than one waypoint or want to make sure you entered the correct coordinates. Steps to recreate: 1. Use the attached miz mission file. 2. Start the mission, and display the first WP's (WP1) info on the HSI. 3. Observe the WP's icon location as you fly towards Batumi. When you reach it, keep flying and see what happens. 4. Go through steps 2-4, but this time use Batumi's tacan (16X), and observe the same behaviour for the tacan station icon. Just showing that it's not map related: (Video showing the problem, same methods used. Watch how the icon drifts as I move) Note: distance and bearing info is accurate, so I can get to that WP. The only problem seems to be with the icons.FA18_moving_map_acting_up.miz Edited September 12, 2018 by BarTzi TITLE
Cytt0rak Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Yes, I'm saving the same issue as OP aswell. Icons drift can we get any info about this from mods?
Cytt0rak Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Of course we aligned our INS. Try putting down a waypoint on a landmark and check it yourself. I'm sure you will have the same issue people haven't noticed this because no one used waypoints to do pinpoint strikes probably. I didn't even notice it for 2 days.
Cytt0rak Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Coordinates are correct on the HUD. But map waypt keeps drifting.
canadianbaken Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Also you have to remember it’s the weekend so looking for an answer right now might not happen.
BarTzi Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 I do pinpoint strikes since day one, and the spots are almost perfect apart from the diamond in the ground shaking a little bit. That's why I asked you guys if you aligned. I just checked and it works fine, so there should be some trigger for this to happen. It well may be human error or a dcs bug. Thanks for commenting. I just want to point out two things: 1. I start in the air with INS aligned. This isn't an issue with the INS. 2. The WP's info (bearing, and distance) is indeed accurate. So I can hit targets all day long, and get to the waypoints just fine. The issues start when I want to make sure the WP is displayed in the correct location on the moving map itself. I do this all the time for the A10C, just to make sure Im heading in the right direction after making my own flight plans (for example: when you want to attack a base in BLUE FLAG). Right now, it just makes it really hard to understand your flight plan and use it for navigation with the map. If I could disable the map until this is sorted, I would.
BarTzi Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 (edited) Missed that comment, sorry. Anyways- I hope this gets more attention by players and ED. I'm not sure if they go through all those reports. Edited June 4, 2018 by BarTzi

Wait4It Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Glad to see it's not just me. Spent some time to guess at this. Also, bug is hard to find, so some keywords. Waypoint wpdsg tgt diamond moving and wrong location. Coordinates are correct.
BarTzi Posted July 25, 2018 Author Posted July 25, 2018 Glad to see it's not just me. Spent some time to guess at this. Also, bug is hard to find, so some keywords. Waypoint wpdsg tgt diamond moving and wrong location. Coordinates are correct. Thanks man. As of today this is still an issue. I hope they fix it soon, because it's making the moving map (which was a launch feature) very hard to use.
Wait4It Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 If I use wpdsg the resulting diamond in the HUD drifts as well. It's definetly not fixed correctly to the waypoint. This is how I came across this bug in the first place.
BarTzi Posted September 12, 2018 Author Posted September 12, 2018 Reported, thanks all Posted on today's (12/9) changelog: "HSI waypoint will be in correct location on moving map". However, every issue described in this thread, including the drifting and wrong placement of the waypoint icons on the map is still present. For the drifting you can check my video posted . For the icon's location error take a look at this flight plan, vs how it is presented in the HSI display
Wait4It Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 I don't see an improvement either. My problem is mostly the waypoint designate diamond moving on the ground, or it being in different spots depending on the heading you approach the target. Does the f18c calculate an altitude which may be too low or something like that? Just guessing.
