Do i need a mouse with a scroll wheel to access presets or manual function ? All I can do with my (current) 2-button trackpad is "pull to view" . Gotta trackball with more buttons and a scroll wheel on the way

All I read was "Hold my Beer"

But now that I've gone back to read your post, yes you need a mouse wheel to access the different present channels or manual. You might be able to look up the keyboard binding (if there is one) for the radio channel selector knob and that might help you in the meantime

Thanks for the reply . I don't think there is a key binding . Will wait another three weeks for trackball .:( . Won't be too bad as there is yet much to learn !

The knobs are not bound by default but you can assign a key binding for it. Look for "UFC Comm 1 Channel Selector Knob".

Some clickable interactions in DCS cockpits require a mousewheel type axis. Usually a trackball controller has a ring around the ball or some method in software to emulate the mousewheeel.

It would help to know your exact track ball hardware to know if it emulates mousewheel and how. Also, if it comes to it it may be possible write a custom LUA command to change the particular knob by key or button if you are unable to mousewheel control by clickable mousewheel interaction.

Thanks for the info . As I understand it , this trackball has a scroll wheel w/switch , and five other switches .

Regarding the preset channels, does every flight have to have them built in by the mission editor, there must be a way [.lua file] to have a global setting by terrain so that you can have them whenever you fly.
