Buckeye Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I have about 30 hours of travel ahead of me starting tonight, so I figure now is as good of time as any to get a start on learning to 3D model for the design of my cockpit. Any software/program suggestions are welcome...SketchUp? Fusion 360? Blender? Thanks in advance for any suggestions  Rig: SimLab P1X Chassis | Tianhang Base PRO + Tianhang F-16 Grip w/ OTTO Buttons | Custom Throttletek F/A-18C Throttle w/ Hall Sensors + OTTO switches and buttons | Slaw Device RX Viper Pedals w/ Damper Tactile: G-Belt | 2x BK LFE + 1x BK Concert | 2x TST-429 | 1x BST-300EX | 2x BST-1 | 6x 40W Exciters | 2x NX3000D | 2x EPQ304 PC/VR: Somnium VR1 Visionary | 4090 | 12700K

jrsteensen Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 If you are former military, SolidWorks has a deal for $25 license for a full educational license as well, if you want to learn another CAD program. I prefer SolidWorks, though I am a bit slanted, I use it every day for the day job. RightStuff Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Switched from Sketchup over to Fusion360, but that mainly because I wanted to make small things for 3D-printing. Nevertheless: Sketchup is totally OK for designing a pit. Here in this subforum are a lot of detailed plans to find which proove that.
lucky-hendrix Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I am surprised nobody said ONSHAPE : https://www.onshape.com/ I only use this. It is really nice for Mechanical design.
mhe Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Fusion 360 and OnShape. Sketchup is not bad, but once you tried the other two, you'll begin to realize what you missed out on. | i9 12900K | 64GB DDR5-6000 | STRIX RTX 4090 OC | LG 38GN950 38" | | Hanns-G HT225HPB | TIR 5 & Varjo Aero | Virpil Throttle & Stick | TM TPRs | You don't stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.
