Poopskadoop Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 S-37 is a technology demonstrator. It wouldn't be advantageous for the Russian AF to put into production an aircraft without stealth capabilities resembling the F-22 or at least the F-35. EDIT: Oh, Su-37... Well, same story, quite frankly.
sp0nge Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 By the way, are there any significant advantages with having those strange wings? Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kuky Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 yeah, certain angles of the wings get different flight characteristics (aerodynamics) air pressure attack characteristics and probably also affect radar signature levels (I'm not sure hot to name these) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
sp0nge Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 What strange wings? On which aircraft? SU-37 Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hitman Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Then how come I can fly both of em in Ace Combat 5?!?!?!
darkstarRAF Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 IguanaKing, don't speak of things you know nothing about. Times when Russia couldn't afford to refuel it's own jets are in the past as well as times when we couldn't afford to buy new jest, etc. So please think before speak. With best regards, Albert R. Valiev ---- Oculus Rift S, i7-8700, RTX-2070, 32Gb RAM, M2 SSD (X4 PCI-E mode).
tflash Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I agree, Russia is rapidly becoming an economic powerhouse. I can assure you that in the IT business I'm working in, we have a totally different perception of Russia than the one IK seems to imply. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Poopskadoop Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I don't know if its a question of stealth technology, so much as it is a question of funding. Russia can barely afford to fuel their current jets, let alone pay for fleets of new ones. Heh...just out of curiosity...is Hindi being taught as a language in Russian schools? They may find it handy in the near future. :smilewink: Well, it's not quite that bad, I imagine. Still, it would make sense to channel a larger amount of funds into research and development instead of putting into service fighters that would not stand a chance against a stealthy adversary. It would be interesting to see how stealth aircraft will engage each other. This could be the return of the dogfight.

That is in the country, only problems it is a lot of money and it is simple not on the first place, for strategic stability Russia first of all develops military space forces and forces of nuclear restraint. And we any more the USSR and naturally possess any more those financial resources that were earlier. But the most important it at a military management has just now come comprehension what exactly is necessary from aircraft and in what quantity, for needs of the Russian army and it there was the most important problem, there was no concept (a place and problems of the Air Forces in modern conditions) Открылась бездна звезд полна; Звездам числа нет, бездне дна.
