dburne Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 I have noticed previous the Stennis Carrier Lights for landing would not always be on. Playing the Instant Action Take off mission, I would take off, fly around and then land. Ok lights are on fine. Then I would taxi around the deck, get hooked back up and take off again and come around to land. No carrier lights. Then I was doing it again after this mornings update 6 to the Open Beta, and this time I was coming around for a second landing as above, and lights were on - but then, they turned off when I was about a half mile from landing on the carrier. And I do contact for landing clearance. Is this a known bug? 104th_Maverick Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Did you re-request landing clearance in every circuit sir. If you are not doing this the lights will go off. If you are please upload the track and I'll take a look. I mentioned I do request landing and get clearance to land. Every time. I will get a trk file next time it happens and upload it. Talonx1 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Out of curiousity why not just have the lights stay on once its dark enough?
pimp Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Out of curiousity why not just have the lights stay on once its dark enough? Even airports light system needs to be tweaked. I think they are connected to the time of day instead of how much sunlight is showing. If its 14:00 with a heavy overcast making it dark outside, airport lights does not seem to come on since it's 14:00 although it's dark outside. i9 14900k @5.6GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z790 A-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 990 Pro 2TB | 64GB DDR5 6400MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | PiMAX CRYSTAL LIGHT | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals
dburne Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 Maybe it is a time issue, my mission is set for early in the am - not dark but sun not up too far - if the lights go out at a specific time then that may be what's happening - but that boat deck sure is dark without them. maxTRX Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 We need this guy to restore order on Stennis! No more black outs. Lights on!

They do, and yes I agree: today I had the lights on, but Mother decided it was a good idea to turn them off (after giving me landing clearance) just when I was about to turn into the groove. At a later time of the day into the mission, it gets easier again, but there is a significant time period where (especially in VR) it is very hard to get lined up properly visually. HawkDCS Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 They need to stay on longer I agree. That being said visual signature counts in some areas so lighting up your boat isn't always the best idea. This is the reason the pilots were happy the F14B could take off with no A/B it helped to hide the carrier from being spotted with no A/B plumes. Ah that is it then, I like the early morning looks but those lights turning off are making it a little difficult, guess I will adjust the time of day where it is better for me.
