I've literally made zero changes to settings since last update. DCS ran just fine, smooth as glass when the F-18 was released. Now, again, with zero changes, DCS has this horrible stutter nearly always accompanied with a full crash. Just updated to the newest version (2.5.2.19273) and this stutter persists. It's been weeks now and at least one new update and nothing has changed. Can we go ahead and just undo whatever you did cause this already?

Yes

Multiplayer performance is really bad.

Playing old mission on same server, all players complained about "Freezes" and "Stutters" and farther disconnects from the server or game crashes.

Need to be fixed, cause multiplayer is indeed almost unplayable!!!

dont forget to always clear your fxo and metashaders2 folders after updates...

located in

C:\Users\UserName\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta

Make it common practice.. after any update, or any graphics adjustments..

Just delete the contents of each folder.. restart DCS and it will reload the folders accordingly... if stuttering still persist, you may need to repair or reinstall DCS... but i have found several times that just clearing the fxo and metashader2 folders has cleaned the stutters right up..

currently running smooth on my setup... hope this works for you guys too.

This is quite odd, since I had quite severe stutters myself ever since 2.5.2 Update 4, which are now gone as per latest patch: Caucasus and NTTR run buttery smooth (Normandy will be Normandy though so of course it has worse performance and stutters).

It's hard to miss this one, but here it is:

To test it, DISABLE your NIC and try, if that works then you suffer this WELL KNOWN MS-Bug that you likely cannot fix yourself but only try to avoid.

Hey Dflippink, thanks to your hint it seems to solve my problem with my longtime stutter problems.

I run DCS on a medium rig and for the last year or two been having fps jumping from 9 to 60fps (I set my VSync on). Update after update I would hope that after each update things would improve... but mostly gotten worse over time. I would crash upon diving bomb runs because the lag would kept me from being able to pull out, not to mention AAR being almost impossible to plug into the basket.

So for others who maybe having the same problems clearing "fxo", "metashaders" directories may help after repeated updates.

My rig: ASUS Essentio

Intel Core i5 4570 3.2GHz

NVIDIA GTX 970 4Mb

CRUCIAL DDR3 1600MHz 32Gb (recently upgraded from 16Gb but overclock not used so only running at 800MHz)

TRACKIR 5 (thought this was the problem but it wasn't a contributor)

Viewsonic VX2450 Series monitor (60Hz max)

Hmm I didn't realise cleansing those folders helped with actual performance. I did know it can prevent/cure graphical glitches, which is why I have been doing it for a while after every patch. Glad it helped!

I have been getting horrible stutters in VR which made the game unplayable for me. Then I read the thread about network/LAN causing issues. Went ahead and downloaded the latest driver for my Intel LAN chip and now it’s smooth as butter!
