look bud... im not big on opinions ..or feelings,... what i am stating is based on results... it is not because i want something to be true or that i am enthusiastically enthralled by something..... it is based on hours and hours of testing while accounting for every possible variable... myself, and about every other person in that thread has had extraordinary results... you are entitled to your opinion and whatever you choose to believe in... but the facts of the matter, weather you are running VR or 2D... in 4k,...2k,... 720p,... or whatever you want, the mod creates a different set assets to be computed by the GPU... in a controlled environment with no other variable than the mod itself on a 1080ti, there is a 15-20% decrease in load on the GPU... this is not disputable... and can be easily measured over and over again... what this means... regardless of how you want to feel, or your opinion, is that the user now has the ability to apply 15-20% more load than previously attainable while maintaining the same or better FPS, or that they can maintain the same settings and pursue an increase in FPS based on the relative 15-20% GPU load that is available.... this in fact, hardware doesn't care about feelings, is a significant performance improvement... for any and all users... period... You want to chase fps.. have 15-20% more of your GPU to do it... You want to increase AA or any other graphics setting... have 15-20% more of your GPU to do it... take your pick.. or mix it up... or.... dont.

As I said, way off topic here.

clearly as the title states.../s:doh:... in any case... if anyone would like some versatility in their option as far as AA or "Broken Anti-Aliasing" which while it will not directly address the current wake issue but may affect it in one form or another... be sure to check out this mod:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373

it will provide significant GPU headroom in both 2D and VR to enable AA settings that you may have previously not been able to run given hardware limitations..

happy flying..

Looks like this has at least been improved with today's OB update. Ships wake no longer looks like a staircase, though it's significantly shorter and much harder to see from any appreciable distance. Honestly I can't speak to if the short wake is more realistic or not, but really glad to see the 'barber pole' effect is gone.

I ended up removing the stern wake entirely, in the cfg, just leaving the bow wake.

I would rather have no wake, than a bad wake.

Yes! Excellent job by ED on this. The ship wake issue, plus the similar issue around Persian Gulf border with land and sea, are both fixed!

Spoke too soon. After installing the updated VR shaders mod, the shimmering in PG around land/sea borders is back, so clearly this is a mod issue and not DCS. This is in VR only.

After OB update, all ship wakes are reduced to all most nothing! CV @30 kts looks like a speed boat @10kts. I have a "kill speed boat" mission an wakes are no undetectable! (@30kts). Without A2G (sea Radar) can detect them (unless you use labels)!

I don't have OB, but if it's anything like this Stennis at 15 kt, with the ugly spotlight beam wake, removed, I'll be happy.

there's not way to remove this effect, anti.aliasing, sSSA, changing resolutuons , settings etc nothing can solve it, i think its the way ED coded the effect into engine.
