mytai01 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 The AI F/A-18E/F really needs to be a thing in DCS. There are really no Navy Fighter Sq that flew the C/D models...They all went from F-14 to 18E/F... Terrificfool Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 The USN definitely flew the F/A-18C. Making a request is one thing... rationalizing it with bogus, misleading, or wrong statements is another. :(
Home Fries Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 (edited) If you want to get really technical, the OP is correct. AFAIK, no VF squadron ever transitioned to the C (or the A for that matter); all the VF squadrons transitioned to the Rhino (either E or F) when they retired the Tomcat. The VFA squadrons that flew the C model were all VA squadrons (either A-6 or A-7) that transitioned when their respective platforms were retired. Also, the Navy never flew the D operationally. The D is strictly a Marine Corps platform that they transitioned to from the A-6 so they could maintain the squadrons' all weather (AW) capabilities. But yes, I agree that the post was likely more general in nature. Just splitting hairs and padding my post count! :D Edited July 26, 2018 by Home Fries -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
mytai01 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 My post was specifically to VF Sq. As it stands now, we can't make any accurate CVW's. It would be nice to have all the right planes as AI to be accurate. It would be nice to have all the right planes as AI to be accurate. Except for the Prowler, you can do a CVW from 1995-2005 with no problem. Tomcats take 1-200, Hornets take 3-400, Hawkeyes and Seahawks take 600, and Hoovers take 700. Prowlers would take 500 if we had them in game. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
SkateZilla Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Did someone say Super Hornets? Yes, All VF Squadrons transitioned to the -E or -F Super Hornets, from the Tomcats. So While we need super hornets for Modern Airwings, the Tomcat Flew Along side the Legacy hornet for decades.
