draken152 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Hi Guys, In next few moths I will complete my FW190D pit. Now I know I will go to simpit centurion 270 as display solution. What I also know I need new Pc to handle that. This is my idea now: CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 2700X (YD270XBGAFBOX) Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F GAMING (90MB0XH0-M0EAY0) GPU: GIGABYTE AORUS GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11G (GV-N108TAORUS X-11GD) Memory: G.SKILL 32GB KIT DDR4 3200MHz CL14 Trident Z (F4-3200C14D-32GTZ) Disk: Samsung 970 PRO 512GB (MZ-V7P512BW) and other stuff not so important to mention.... Question is can this setup manage the runnig DCS in 5760x1080 resolution(3x projector )??? What is crucial with what level of details ??? It is necessary to go to SLI for GPUs???:dunno: P.S. If I will need go to SLI probably I will go to 1080Ti GPU if SLI will be not necessary I will wait for new 1180 GPU...I am not in hurry with this.... toutenglisse Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 If you don't know it, you may find this post usefull : https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2624495&postcount=3 Basically it says that 3 FHD screens placed in high FOV is very demanding on ressources (it gives 2 times less FPS than same resolution at 16:9 FOV). (But this test was done with DCS 1.5, maybe it's obsolete) As I know that some users achieved good results in making a SLI profile for DCS, I suggest you search in that direction. But you'll have more valuable advice from 5760x1080 resolution users.
Demon_ Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Don't use 3 screens in landscape mode. The vertical field of view is too small. The vertical field of view is what you need in flight simulaton instead of car simulation, etc. I had this, now i use 3 screens in portrait mode. One big screen is always better to get rid of the bezels. The advantage at that resolution? You can see aircrafts further than the others. Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
Demon_ Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 3 screens (with the 1 screen setting in the game settings) don't need 3 times the resource (video card) because it's almost the same image, the same number of objets. The image is bigger, the FOV is a little bigger. Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
Demon_ Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 and other stuff not so important to mention.... Big CPU, big video card, possibility of SLI. You need a big/strong power supply. Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
Pilotasso Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 That is a killer system but the best part is you can change the CPU cheaply without changing nothing else. There is talk that AMD will release a 12 or 16 core CPU next year for this platform that will have IPC close to Intel's Kaby lake. Im salivating over it (yeah, not yet usable in DCS but I have other stuff in my mind) .
BitMaster Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 12 cores..ehh maybe...but 16 cores on a Dual-Channel system ? I am not so sure if that works as intended. Maybe they invent some CCX-Magic that solves it, or beef it up with 32MB L3 to buffer it some more. No..16 cores need more than 2 channels imho. Pilotasso Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 the new CCX's allegedly are either 6 or 8 core, but yeah at some point these monster CPU's will be starved of memory bandwidth. I hope the IMC is good enough to reach 4000Mhz. .
