I've been working on two mission over the last two weeks.

As of yesterday, DCS crashes if I try to run the mission in VR . . it opens in Mission Editor and run in non-VR.

I also have run other mission in VR . . but not my new ones.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

Chopper

Thanks . . I tried that first . . I did get it to work by deleting the screnevr.lua file.

No I have no 'garage' wallpaper icons, yet the missions run.

I think it's some kind of cache issue . . it's a weird one

I am having something similar. I created a missing with including the Japanese fleet and building a Solomon scenery. I was testing yesterday the whole day in 2D. In the evening I wanted to take a real flight in VR and I did not get it to work. It crashed all the time.

Yak-52 I use.

Wow . .

Now DCS World won't launch at all in VR

My Oculus Rift Home Page says there is a firmware update that I need . . . yet they don't have an update link on that page.

Will work on it later, now I don't think it's my mission at all . . .

Still have the original problem posted . . .

I can run other people's missions in VR, but if I create a mission in the PG and place one Hornet on a airport, the mission crashes in VR, not in the monitor mode.

I did have to update my Oculus firmware software . . but it didn't fix the problem.

Looking for all the help I can get.

Thanks, Chopper

Can't help you too much, if at all as I don't have VR, but for anyone to help, we are going to need two copies of your dcs.log, one when it works (Monitor) and one when it didn't (VR), use the same mission as that way we can compare results at least.

Are the other user missions that work in VR in PG map also with same Fa-18 Hornet as players Aircraft ??? or other maps.

Thanks Ian . . . will post the copies of those logs.

Last night thinking of this I also thought it could be the PG map . . will do some more missions today and repost . . thanks!

It WAS the PG map . . I have Nevada and of course the Caucasus maps . . both those work correctly in VR.

I see there is a TRASH button next to the PG map in the Module Manager under the INSTALLED/Terrains. What I don't see is a serial number box in PG like there is in the Nevada terrain.

I will delete the PG map and try and reload completely.

Thanks Ian for getting back to me . . .will let you know,

Ian,

I deleted the PG map . . reinstalled it, rebooted (also got a new Win10 update during the reboot) and everything in VR works again.

Lots of lightning storms here in Florida . . who knows what caused it, but REPAIR and CLEAN did not fix it.

Now if I can slow the carrier down enough so that I can taxi without going overboard, life would be great again!! Haha

Thanks again for your support,

Glad I could help, great to hear you are back in action, thanks for letting me know what might have fixed it.

Re: The PG map, this map is using the new copy protection system that doesn't use serial numbers any more, but is directly linked to your account, ED is in the process of moving some of the older modules over to the newer system, and new releases I suppose will be in the newer system, but at the moment there is a mixture of the two systems.

Thanks for the missions, as you know I fixed the main updated one by replacing the faulty missing briefing picture from the previous version.

Just noting here for others to know the outcome wasn't related to DCS or VR as such, just a corrupted mission.

Cheers, Ian.

Having all those third party mods may be complicating issues (Don't get me wrong, they are fine work from their authors) but there is always the possibility of them becoming incompatible in some way with DCS's new code base and cause all sorts of weird effects.

I don't have VR and am not willing to load all the third party mods required so can't test under those conditions, but myself and others can't help anyone unless you post the dcs.log files created when the mission works ok in 2D and another when it fails under 3D VR.

This goes for all users (@Zoinid, @Wexler and others) trying to get help, every problem has to be treated on a case by case basis, the logs are the only way we get a picture of what is going on with your installs.

My feeling is that it has something with Oculus Rift API. When that happens, almost whole pc is somehow frezy (google, windows) and that never occured when Oculus Rift API wasnt used. Mostly I am fine with restarting PC, Router, and starting DCS with minimum other applications (like google).

And sometimes I feel like the crash happend when in loading I look with the HDM somewhere else. On monitor it gets out of VR window and the HDM behave like when dismounted (turns off) but instead it just freeze.

I am sending The crash report when that happend. Unfortunately I guess these problems with VR will be with us constantly next few years untill VR is more spreaded, understanded and optimalized.

Sometimes I am fine all day and next day I am barely able to join, then getting dropped.

But in single player I have no problems at all.

That is a hard one indeed.

Yourself and other VR users: Might pay to have a look at this thread (particularly messages #9 and #10 at the bottom), though not directly related to your issues they might give you some ideas.
