Today I installed the new beta drivers and software for my X52 and rudder pedals and after a small problem with freezing the PC :D, I managed to make them work OK.

The small problem I explained it here: http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=11660 (registration I think is required).

Basicaly the problem apears when I tried to asign key strokes for the mode switcher (a new feature), if I had used for that purpose a "advanced command" the PC frozed when that profile was saved, loaded and the switch turned. If in stead "new macro" option was used the problem did not apear.

I find the new drivers and sofware an imrovement cause now the Clutch can be removed and the "I" button can be used (new cannon button for me in IL 2 :P ). The mode switch that can send key strokes is neat as in lock on I can now change the HUD modes in the same time I turn the Mode Switch of the Stick (only regret is that X52 doesn't have 8 modes :D ). Also the interface, although deprived of the nice 3D avatar of the controler, is more clear and user friendly, now you can simply remove the modes or shift modes you dont use in a profile. you can create new or rename the standard modes, you can simply asign new butons for switching or shifting modes and is very naturaly easy to do so... OK, my mom couldn't do it but, nor can I cook :P .

The magic mouse wheel is still unreliable :( .

P.S. Darn I'm so clumsy... is software not sowtware in the title :D .

CLutch removed? yay! Thx for sharing!

BTW can I use current profile in the new SST?

From Saitek's forums:

A note about old .dat profiles

The new software uses a new format for the profiles (.pro) so your old .dat profiles will not work. This does mean that you will need to create new profiles for your games, I'm afraid. We're working on a conversion tool that will convert .dat files to .pro files, but it's not ready yet. Some of you will be aware that the old SST software did generate .pro files in addition to the .dat file when you saved a new profile so may think that these will work, but unfortunately this isn't the case.
