vs. Mig29 AIM-120 'JAM'

I'm new, learning the F15, when I encounter the Mig29, I'm able to lock him, but when I do - I get the 'JAM'

How do you counter this jam ?

The only thing jammers do in DCS is hiding range info. Normally when you are within 25nm your radar will get a burn-through to the jammer and will be able to tell the range since then.

Also if you fire a missile before burn-through, the missile will fly in Home-On-Jam mode and will track the target autonomously with rather poor accuracy.

Ok, makes sense - I was not getting the 'box' around the target so I was unable to fire .

Don't ever shoot until you have burnt through his jammer, it would be a wasted missile. Wait until you are less than 20mn, 14mn is a better option to have a high PK shot.
