Razorback Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Gents, Is it somebody working on the feasibility to add trees to the caucasus 2.5 Map (add object) ? The new map is beautifull but I still find that the object and particularly the trees are missing around the airports... Last weekend I went to an Airshow and the base was surrounded by trees...As most of the military airbases... Thxxxx Chris
Silver_Dragon Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 The actual map has near of object count, has very accurate with no see more trees meanwhile the engine dont get a new improve. PeaceSells Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 In my opinion, Caucasus 2.5 has A TON of trees for a 3D sim. Unfortunately, hardware technology isn't there yet to give us the same amount of trees of real life, specially with the view range we have in DCS, on maps of the size we have in DCS. I guess more trees could be added if view range was decreased (look at Arma, Battlefield, etc., they all have very unrealistically short range view), but the long view range is so much more important for immersion and realism than just amount of objects. If anything, I would reduce the amount of trees in Caucasus 2.5 and increase view range. crazyeddie Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 (edited) And I would do the opposite, I'm with Razorback on this. No need to add more trees to the existing map, just give us the option to add them ourselves in the Mission Editor, so those who do not want them don't get upset. I asked ED about this a few times ages ago, no response, so its not going to happen. I did try creating a mod using the old 1.5 trees as the basic models but the textures are so poor in 2.5 it wasn't worth pursuing, some of them were transparent in 3d when looking towards the sun, and they were not in the same class in model terms of course, these were the trees from way back in the LFC days. Yes, adding placeable trees to the Mission Editor would be a good idea. Sorry, I thought the request was to increase the number of trees in the default Caucasus 2.5... only now I see this is the "Mods" subforum (a little side effect of clicking on threads at the "New Posts" section... I sometimes miss which subforum the thread belongs to...) Better yet if this was done by ED, instead of as a mod. BTW, I haven't looked at the list of static objects available in the ME, aren't there any trees/vegetation in there?
