I have a question based on the stream we just witnessed.

The B-Model was the plane flying but we're seeing an A model cockpit.

Will the B cockpit be implemented?

from the ED F-14 preorder page:

The simulation of both the A* and B model Tomcat, the A model following the B later during the Early Access period.

One day in DCS... Vipers will fly along side Tomcats... Bugs with Superbugs, Tiffy's with Tornado's, Fulcrums with Flankers and Mirage with Rafales...

:)The Future of DCS is a bright one:)

Wait.. That's bass-ackwards from what Heatblur said.

Heatblur said that the B model would be first and the A would come later.

Either way, in the stream they're obviously flying B models. with A model cockpits.

Ah misunderstood but, that's not the question.

The question is. They are flying the B model in the videos and all of the promotional stuff. But we have yet to see a B model cockpit.

The cockpits in the video are A model cockpits

A and B cockpits are identical, some B's received Sparrowhawk HUD but obviosly not the one we get. D model has more digital stuff.

That's not true. I was wondering the same thing as Icefire.

IceFire, you may want to post this in the F-14 Section.

Is the cockpit fully functional?

I've been hearing it is not functional. I'd like to know because I'll be asking for a refund if its not functional.

cheers

Silly question but I don't see it anywhere is it a clickable pit?

It is a clickable pit.

Oh, that's great news bud. I was worried because I read a few post that the pit isn't fully functional and I thought dang it I need to confirm this.

Looks like these folks did a great job. I really like to pilot movements; very cool.

cheers

The F-14B pit isn't fully functional, as in not complete, and that is why the F-14A pit was used in the demonstration videos even though we are to get the 'B' first in early access.

Ok, but will it be when its completed. People are saying it will be like the F15. That's what I'm trying to determine.

It will be clickable when it is complete. This is not a FC3 level module. Anyone saying that it will be like the F-15 when it is done hasn't been paying attention.

Where are people saying that? That's a group whose insight should be taken with a grain of salt. It's honestly best to just ignore the flight sim rumor mill.

The kind of explanations I've, personally, seen concocted could fill up a terrible primetime TV show which would then be hosted by Jesse Ventura.

EDIT: For the record, the only time Heatblur has ever mentioned an FC3 level aircraft, was possibly bringing an FC3 level JA-37 Viggen into DCS. That was a long time ago and their subsequent release of the AJS-37 is a full clickable pit. When they were still Leatherneck, the MiG-21 was fully clickable.

On top of that, Just read the E-Shop page where it describes the product. You don't put that much detail into something for a static cockpit. So, rest assured that it'll full fidelity in that regard.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

How do you even get to the idea, that it could not be clickable?

You guys bought that product, and you are obviously into DCS and love the F-14.

How can you miss, that it is full fidelity?

It's like I would tell a car dealer I'd love that (insert car) , and I bought one, but someone told me it doesn't feature a steering wheel

ONLY FC3 / the upcoming DCS: MAC and the Su-25T are low fidelity.

I think it's a legit question, if only because I had the same one haha. I'm not hardcore into DCS but I have most of the modules and have spent quite a bit of time in them.

The question for me comes from the absence of any reference to a clickable cockpit on the store page.

Here's what the page says for F-14:

"Highly detailed and accurate 6-DOF (Degrees of Freedom) cockpit also built using photogrammetry from the F-14 Tomcats preserved at museums."

Compare vs. F/A-18:

"A highly realistic and exhaustively researched cockpit that is mouse interactive with 6 degrees of freedom. Interact with the cockpit by pressing buttons and moving switches. You will feel like part of the aircraft with our Advanced Systems Modeling (ASM)."

Or vs. Yak-52:

"Realistic, mouse-interactive cockpit in which almost all controls can be interacted with."

Or vs. F-5:

"Interact with cockpit controls with your mouse"

So I don't doubt that you guys are correct that the cockpit will be fully interactive, but it did stand out to me that their description of the module doesn't mention that, especially when it's so prominently mentioned on the store pages of other modules.
