Igor4U Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Sorry for the (maybe) Dumb Question; .......... ............ But what does that Bracket (in HUD) do, what is it telling me ? In terms of: - Airspeed (AoA) - Pitch Trim - Power Setting - AoA Indexer I've read references to it in the Forum and Flight Manual, but still don't quite grasp what it's telling me. Does it know something I don't from just eye-balling it ? THANX !
Tholozor Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 AoA Indexer. Just a more accurate visual representation to help you trim for landing. Trim the velocity vector into the center of the bracket for optimal AoA. David OC Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 (edited) Learn all about how the hornet lands using on speed AOA in this thread here Be sure to watch the first video in that thread by a former F-18 pilot that will explain how the navy lands aircraft using on speed AOA. The O donut (angle of attack indicator) to the left is the same thing as the hud E bracket. In other words. You are on speed in that pic and it's also to help you trim the aircraft correctly for on speed.
