Geier Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I still don't believe pedals are completely necessary - they'd be nice to have, by all means, but a twist-stick or an X45 will suffice. You most definitely need an accurate method of yaw control, though. I agree with you, but it's a matter of habit:)
hitman Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Yup...either way, I suspect I will be one of the many many ppl crashing servers.

GGTharos Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I have to say it's actually no difference to fly when you have some speed... Yes there is ... while when you have speed the helicopter does behave -more- like a fixed wing, it's still a heli and it has it special quirks. Yawing motion is always greater, and turning is just not the same either. Above certain speeds you might also get rolling moments, and change in collective can cause pitching moments. I am certain fighting in Ka-50 will be a challenge... more like with Su-25T. Landing in wind... well you'll see... you will change your mind about the rudder pedals :joystick: Yes it will be a challenge ... and though I don't have rudder pedals, I wish I did! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
EscCtrl Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Yeah. The Ka50 has so much more power and agility than the FSX choppers it's just unreal. . . . this does make it difficult to fly, you can't avoid that. It's like going from a 747 to an Extra. General handling may be straightforward, but hovering and precise control is still a bit of a nightmare to learn. I strongly recommend learning to fly helicopters in other sims (FSX with add-ons will do, HoverControl has a nice 412) before Black Shark if you haven't touched them before ;) I still don't believe pedals are completely necessary - they'd be nice to have, by all means, but a twist-stick or an X45 will suffice. You most definitely need an accurate method of yaw control, though. I have addons and an X45 so am covered if I read what you said correctly.
Prophet Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Flying a helo is like standing on top of a ball, and trying to stay up right. Its not that its more difficult to fly per se, but it requires more input at less amplitude. You are constantly on the stick. This is one of the main reasons I got the NXT for my Cougar, my arm was getting sore flying cause the stock springs are so strong. GG get some rudders, definately makes it easier.
