I just came up with this idea. Could we have a button acting as a toggle that allows inputting ufc information from the keyboard?

I normally play in VR, and is a bit of a pain to get the mouse and keep the head still so as to click on the UFC(or other NAV systems depending the aircraft). However I am quite good using the keyboard without looking at it, just by feel. So if i assign this button to my hotas, once ON, i could enter lat/long information in a moment.

So summing up what i have in mind is:

-Keyboard input ON: then any keyboard press is detected as the equivalent key in the ufc, if it exist. Eg. "G" is detected as G and does not activate the landing Gear(in an A10 for example that have letters, not in the hornet), "Enter" act as the enter button instead of the TDC action, etc...

-Keyboard input OFF: any keypress is detected as their normal assignment.

I know this is not trivial to implement but i think is a cool concept for VR users and even for monitor users. You could argue that is even more realistic since RL crews use real buttons to input information in a moment as opossed to using the mouse which is not so precise and a bit cumbersome, from my humble opinion.

What do you think guys?

I use the keyboard numberpad for UFC entry currently , and it is much faster than the mouse .

Now i think about it , you could prolly do as you wish using the "modifier" function in the keyboard/controller programming .push and hold modifier until UFC entry complete , release for "normal" .
