Capn Penguin Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 We are going through the other options with no issues so far. The difficulty is that the resets, while always in DCS are random. Yesterday I flew for almost 6 hours and then while tootling away from the Georgia coast back out to sea. BAM!!! Then it reset three times in 45 minutes. There is seemingly no rhyme or reason. But we shall hunt down the wily culprit and it shall be assimilated. (Channeling my inner Borg) A patiently troubleshooting: John Cap'n Penguin a.k.a. Demon_ Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I have spent several hours on the web trying to understand it but my 51 year old grey matter is not able to put the pieces together. guidance you can provide. Varis Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 I ordered the Corsair rmx 850 X power suppliy. It was rated highly at several of the hardware web sites and I found multiple positive statements about it here on the forums. They had one that could be delivered today so I ordered it as a just to be ready. LOL a RMX 550 X is what runs my DCS box. Likely you now have two PSUs worth keeping even if it's not the issue :smilewink: SA-342 Ka-50 Mi-8 AJS-37 F-18 M2000C AV-8B-N/A Mig-15bis CA --- How to learn DCS

Gladman Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Just for PSU argument sake. And yes Bitmaster I know we've had this discussion. I'm running the same system OC'd to hell on a 650W PSU. hansangb Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 I don't think it's that 650 may not be enough. I think the argument is that an unhealthy PSU can't output 650. That was the case for me. 1120W PSU. Fine for DCS. PUBG and only PUBG took it over the edge. Replaced it with 1000W EVGA PSU and problem was gone. So I'm not sure how much my 1120PSU degraded. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Capn Penguin Posted December 24, 2018 Author Posted December 24, 2018 Welp, I know it's an early test but 2 hours in with an F-18 flying around on autopilot, wel several F-18, they kept running out of JP-4..... or JP-8, whatever the electronic Navy uses, and nadda boot. Family left so now I'm settling in to fly the night away. We'll see what happens. :) Thank you all so much for taking the time to help me. An exuberant geezer: John Cap'n Penguin a.k.a. METEOP Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 ...well wadyaknow, now I'm crashing :cry_2: I've seen a few user crashing since the last update, maybe this has something to do with it? BitMaster Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 attach the crash log, so we can see why who when and what not, hopefully. Crashes happen, unless they are very often and can be triggered it "could" just be one of those that do occur, sometimes, but not every 30min or every time you release a bomb or extend the gear kinda thing. more details really help :) Merry Christmas Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
METEOP Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Hi everybody just wanted to bring some closure to this thread... As I've suspected a DCS repair and delete of the shaders folders did the trick, so sorry for implying the coding gods were not up to the task. METEOP i5-6600K OC@4.5Ghz, GTX 1070 OC, 32Gb RAM, M.2 NVMe SSD Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Rudder Pro, Trackhat Clip, 1080p projector, Custom touchscreen rig, Ikarus touchscreen panel, Voice Attack, ReShade, Simshaker Aviator
BitMaster Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Hehe, we've all been there with those folders. DELETE them both after every update of DCS and your NVidia driver.
