Some questions on setting up JTAC

I'm learning to bomb stuff with the F-18 and have successfully set up a JTAC unit to work with. However ...

 

1. Can I use any other type of unit for JTAC other than a ATGM M1045 HMMWV TOW?

2. The unit engages and destroys two of the targeted units, despite me having set the ROE P WEAPON HOLD command. Is this a bug?

DCS' ROE settings aren't the most reliable. I find it's kinda like a speed limit, where it's more of a 'suggestion' than a hard and fast rule.

 

To answer your questions out of order, pretty much any unit can be a JTAC but will have certain restrictions based on unit type. E.g, an unarmed HMMWV will not be able to lase, and infantry can't lase or use ELRPS.

I got the ROE problems fixed, it seems, by making the FAC command a triggered action, adding a delay so that ROE was guaranteed to be issued well before the FAC/Assign Group command.

 

Are there anyt other unit type that can lase?

Anything with weapons should be able to lase.

I use Bradleys a lot as it seems reasonable they would be used for that purpose.

I use the drones as a lasing JTAC. I set it about 15k ft high. However, if you've setup SAMs in your target area, it might get shot down.
