I don't know if it's just me, or if it's early access, but I've noticed that I can't get the 9L to lock on unless I am in the bandit's 6:00 lethal cone. AFAIK, 9Ls are supposed to be all-aspect missiles, although not as good as the 9X of course.

Has anyone else noticed this?

The Lima was the first all-aspect Sidewinder, though I wouldn't expect it to be as good as the M. That said, the behaviour you're describing doesn't sound right - what targets are you engaging?

Pretty much any targets. In particular, lately, Mirage 2000, MiG-29, Su-27, even the F-5E--the 9L has been acting oddly.

Pretty sure that the first all-aspect Sidewinder was the AIM-9P5

Nah. First came the AIM-9L, after which the seeker was added to the AIM-9P3 making it the AIM-9P4. The P5 just added better CCM systems. AFAIK the AIM-9P5 was mostly intended to be an export version of the sidewinder, but the US used it too.
