Bought an X56 HOTAs and am in the process of setting it up. However....

I noticed that after mapping the throttle axis (left & right) prospectively if the throttles locked they function correctly. If I unlock the throttle bringing the right one to idle puts it into afterburner. I tried inverting it but that does not correct the issue.

Thoughts?

Make sure you're not on game, you need to be sim. You have to delete all the axes and reset them correctly yourself or you'll get throttle issues like this so if you haven't done that I'd go there first.

Resolved it....

Found out that if each engine is mapped individually (left & right) in sim control settings the throttle must remain unlocked. If locked the throttle wants to behave like a single engine aircraft. Doing so...will throw the right engine into AB while the left remains at idle (both closed). Unlocking the throttle and they behave like they should.

All axis in HOTAS column were cleared.

From the game's standpoint, it is not a ''throttle'' it's a game controller with two axises labeled X and Y. Just because you are physically moving them the same direction means nothing, logically they are reversed as far as the values they generate internally.

Whichever one is acting up, just invert it in the axis setup. That's all you need to do. Nothing is 'wrong' and you do not need them linked, as that defeats the whole purpose of a dual throttle. Just invert the one that appears to be going to wrong way, problem solved.

You can use them locked or unlocked as you please if it's configured properly. I've used X55 and X56 extensively, and my dad is using one.

Did just that. However....once the lock is engaged the right engine goes AB. Unlocking the throttle it functions perfect.

Hmmm. Interesting. I have never encountered that. It is ''supposed'' to match the values between the two, not change them outright. That sounds like something defective in the throttle, I've never had it do that, and I've used several of them over the years.

Found out that the curve profile in the software had been flipped for throttle 2. Setting it to the same as throttle 1has corrected it.
