OnlyforDCS Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 So I came across this post by Jabbers on his youtube channel: Sooo about that AIM-54C video... Looks like ED released a patch that made missiles in general that loft (not just the AIM-54) out of sync shooter and target... sooo we wait, sorry :( ...and I was wondering what it means exactly? Did ED unintentionally break the AIM54 with their last update and could that possibly be the reason why we are not seeing any more videos of the preview Tomcat in action? Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
Eldur Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 They've been out of sync already sometimes which you can see in the cases where they didn't loft in Tacview even though they did in the sim. My guess is ED tried to fix that and in the first place, broke it even more. Anyway I expect it to be fixed eventually. I mean, it's essential to have them correctly shown where they are for all clients in MP. Up to now it's just some lofting AIM-7s that aren't widely used anyway. And 120s loft at ranges beyond 20nm AFAIK, but seriously, noone shots those at such ranges in DCS until they get proper guidance logics.

Agreed, it was like 50/50 before, i tried about 20 tests with the AIM-54... all 20 broke, so nothing I can do till its fixed. The AIM-54 will loft some (couple thousand feet) even at 15nm, and the problem is it affects my ability to notch because on my screen its closer than it really is. See this image See the difference, missile had passed me, for a while... but in reality was still really close. Can't test like this. The problem is reported, tacviews for reference have been submitted, all we can do is wait and see. Twitch2DCS - Bring twitch chat into DCS. OnlyforDCS Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Thanks for the update Jabbers. Does that mean that the AIM54 actually tracks correctly in the game and just the Tacview part is broken or does the problem run deeper than that? Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Deeper, it tracks fine on the shooters PC, to everyone else it flies straight point A to B (no lofting). Thats what the tacview shows. Left is my pc, right is shooters pc.
