AMEDooley Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 What is the optimum speed for the hornet for AAR? With the KC-135 now being usable we can finally refuel at a higher speed. I’m just wondering what the best speed is. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Lex Talionis Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) 4.2 AOA is max range, 5.6 AOA is max endurance. Typically your flying at max e while your refueling on something that is orbiting, and max r on something that is dragging you to a destination. At least that is what you would hope the tanker would fly. Edited January 25, 2019 by Lex Talionis Find us on Discord. https://discord.gg/td9qeqg
Holden McGroyne Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I find the best speed for the Hornet when tanking to be about the same as the tanker, if not I overshoot or drop behind too much :D
Rennes Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 4.2 AOA is max range, 5.6 AOA is max endurance. Is this a constant Lex? Doesn't matter what altitude or anything? Good info.

Yup. :) but that is only if the thrust curve and where L/D max occurs is acurate in the game. Edited January 25, 2019 by Lex Talionis Find us on Discord. https://discord.gg/td9qeqg
