Another Sensor Control Switch question..

The Manual Says:

Sensor control switch (4 position). This is a four position, momentary, centering switch. Switch functions are discrete inputs.

• Forward: When in A/G mode, this assigns throttle designator control (TDC) priority to HeadUp Display (HUD). When in NAV mode, this enters the HUD into the ACM sub-mode and places the radar in boresight. When in A/A mode, this also places the HUD in the ACM submode and radar in boresight. In all modes, a fast double press (less than one second two presses, will place the aircraft in EMCOM, and a second double press will take it out of EMCON.

• Aft: When in A/G mode, this assigns TDC priority to Advanced Multipurpose Color Display (AMPCD). When in A/A mode, this assigns the TDC to the AMPCD SA page. If in an A/A ACM sub-mode, this puts radar in vertical acquisition (VACQ). If in NAV mode, this toggles the AMPCD between the HSI, SLEW, and SA pages in that order.

• Left: Assigns TDC priority to the LDDI. If TDC priority is already assigned to the LDDI and LDDI is radar display, commands radar to track mode STT when TDC is over a radar return. If radar is tracking, commands break lock (not un-designate). In A/A ACM sub-mode, commands wide acquisition (WACQ) to radar system. If TGP FLIR is displayed on the LDDI, it will command a track in either A/A or A/G.

• Right: Assigns TDC priority to the RDDI. If TDC priority is already assigned to the RDDI and RDDI is radar display, commands radar to track mode STT when TDC is over a radar return. If TGP FLIR is displayed on the LDDI, it will command a track in either A/A or A/G.

For the first part that says "Assigns TDC priority to the xxxx". I assume that only works in A/G mode? It doesn't say that, but the Forward and Aft do specify A/G mode.

For the text TGP FLIR text above. What, if any, modes are required for those statements to be valid?

I assume it has to be in A/A mode. Or would it work in A/G mode? If A/A, does it only work in BVR Submode? Or also in ACM Submode?

The SSS Up, down, left, right, basically assigns the TDC focus to the corresponding "Display" (up being HUD, down the center display, left and right the corresponding LDDI, RDDI).

That combined with a page displayed/HUD mode selected, which supports TDC slewing.

TGP FLIR is currently not implemented, so no definite answer how this works with the Litening Pod or ATFLIR...

My guess is, you select the TGP display on any of the three displays and then the SSS applies as above.

It seems slightly unfinished, doesn't it? Right now Castle switch aft seems to only assign TDC to the HSI, wherever it is, instead of assigning it to the AMPCD. Also, Castle switch towards the A/A radar for AACQ or target designation works only on the right DDI.However, assigning TDC control on the A/A radar on the left DDI, or the Mav IR on both LDDI and RDDI works; but not the A/A acquisition.

I have been reading about all of the functions of the switch in the manual. It is all over the place, not just in one section, which kind of makes sense. So, I was trying to put together a comprehensive diagram or flowchart. I've got about 75% of it figured out, but I'll just have to wait until it's finished I guess..
