ATTENTION Do not open if playing campaign, contains major potential spoiler.

Axeman confirms that the vehicles must be captured, and gives a cleared hot to engage. I take a few orbits to get the sensors on, then my eyes, and then geometry sorted (terrain is a challenge). I'm able to spot them but kept having issues with the sensors losing lock, so wasted some time there. After able to launch on the vehicles, I get a broken call from Axeman and then he stops responding. Shortly afterwards I get the prompt that he and crew were killed.

So my question, did I do something incorrectly. I didn't save the track, but do plan on redoing the mission. I had other issues prior that kind of screwed up my plan...radios....

I was kind of confused, as he was dead but voice prompts from him continued. However upon landing the dialogue made me think it was intended.

Shockingly, debrief reveals that me taking out the vehicles were the result of axeman dying  :(

Side note I never got eyes on axemans location (radio issues; self induced), so I was working in the blind despite some 9-lines gave his location as an IP.

Can an F10 option for repeating dialogue like "pop smoke" be added? Maybe not this campaign but futures?

Thanks Panther! My reply also in a spoiler.

Axeman does not tell you to "capture" the vehicles. He says:

"AXEMAN: Dodge 1-1, Axeman. We don't have any regular forces this far out. This must be one of our captured vehicles. You're cleared hot!" - which means you need to take them out.

If you don't, they will park south of his posit and deploy troops (which they probably did in your case), and then soon after the bad guys will take Axeman and his team (again, which they did).

The only thing I should check are extra dialogues from Axeman when he is dead, which - obviously - he would not be able to transmit.

My guess is then that you did something wrong - so wrongly understood Axeman's instructions and didn't take out the vehicles in time. Your wingman usually does a great job destroying them.

Let me know how it went on the second pass, and I will check the dead man talking.

Maybe I misunderstood the dialogue from axeman, but I thought it was something like "the vehicle must be one ours that was captured, (not that I should capture it) you're cleared hot to engage. Which I was slow to engage it due to the terrain and my positioning and it did stop. Which at that point I assume things went south for axeman.

Yeah, they sure did :)

Anyway, thanks to you found two other small issues in the mission - both are fixed (including Axeman talking after he died).

Flew it again, and all went as planned. Helpful to ensure the radio is properly set the first time. I screwed up and set the frequency for axeman forgetting that I wasn't in manual for the AM radio. So frequency was shown, but the channel wasn't set. I discovered the error but it was late into the axeman transcript the first time flying. That prevented me from knowing his location.

You see, that is what I love about this radio system vs the standard radio messages that play no matter what settings you have on the radio. You really need to be on top of those frequencies all the time. I feel this is so much more realistic. Don't know if you tried the Red Flag campaign for the M-2000C, it is even more important (and complicated) there.

I would love to do the RF for the M-2000C, except I know next to nothing about the aircraft. The two airframes I know best are the Hawg and the Hornet (yet still learning the new features).

If you have the mirage you can do the training missions. The last training missions is an overall prep for the m2000c red flag campaign. I have that campaign but I haven't flown the aircraft since I last tested those missions. Even if you don't feel comfortable in the baguette you can even do the included campaign for the jet which Baltic created as well and is one of my favorites/next best campaign in DCS aside from this one.

BUG still?

Yeah, they sure did :)

Anyway, thanks to you found two other small issues in the mission - both are fixed (including Axeman talking after he died).

I didn't read all the spoiler tags, however after playing the mission so far I get radio silence (and a message) indicating Axeman is dead, so I began RTB and then he comes back to life and says he has another 9 line. So maybe still a bug - or hasn't been fixed yet? I'm running latest OB with Friday's hotfix.

I just played M04. The kneeboard shows laser code 1699 which caught my eye at the beginning (not the usual 1688). I thought we'd be hitting some lased targets here. Anyway, if you try to enter 1699, the CDU tells you "Laser Des Code Invalid"

Good mission overall.

I couldn't get the trucks before they deployed troops due to some damage my plane sustained. However, I ended up getting the trucks when they were parked, heard "myself" report that all 3 trucks were taken out, and couldn't find any infantry to take out afterwards. However, the friendly reinforcements kept shooting at them. I was looking with the TGP at where they were shooting and didn't see any infantry. These ghost infantry units ended up killing Axeman. Did I just miss spotting them, or did I pretty much fail once the trucks parked and the rest was scripted? Just curious.

Thanks! The fix has been already submitted for that wrong code, it will be fixed with Friday update together with some more small issues.

I just completed mission 4. I killed the insurgents, got the Axeman assignment, got the Bullseye vector and went to those coordinates and couldn't raise Axeman after repeatedly circling his coords and reaching out on the new Guard frequency.

I have the Log and the Trackfile. I'm interested in which triggers or timing I missed.

Kudos on the great writing, audio and thoughtful campaign design! Just curious how I could have handled it better as I ran the mission 3 times and this last time had the coordinates and entry points fairly optimized..

I heard Axman, responded, we hopped over to the new channel and I got the Bullseye coords and then vectored in. I had already overshot his location by the time I had the new waypoint so I had to turn around. I got within 1 mile of his location and sent the message that I was on target (the only available message) and from there it was radio silence.

My inference is that I did not arrive within a time window and so the triggers did not fire. What are your parameters once Axeman has given his vector to Dodge 1?

Hey kfarley215, I checked - mission works well. You probably missed a pop-up message that you should press Space Bar to request update on the situation, you don't need to be overhead for that.
