fitness88 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 (edited) Unlike other aircraft, I'm unable to increase the afterburner sound by editing the Afterburner.sdef and increasing the gain = 1.5 to a higher value. Anyone figure out how to do it? Thank you. Edited February 15, 2019 by fitness88 wrong spelling
Arctander Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Good question - I too would like to know....
Strikeeagle345 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Run the hornet sound mod. It sounds 10,000 times better. Strike USLANTCOM.com i7-9700K OC 5GHz| MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON | 32GB DDR4 3200 | GTX 3090 | Samsung SSD | HP Reverb G2 | VIRPIL Alpha | VIRPIL Blackhawk | HOTAS Warthog
Daunt Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Run the hornet sound mod. It sounds 10,000 times better. Does the Hornet Sound mod affect in-cockpit sounds? Thought it was just external sounds. I imagine the OP is looking for better indication of using AB while flying.
Strikeeagle345 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 well, you cant hear the AB in the cockpit in the real jet. Only for a short time on takeoff until the airflow over the canopy and forward movement drown it out. And no, it's external sounds only. I guess I assumed OP wanted to increase the sound so it's easier to tell whether the AB is lit.
fitness88 Posted February 15, 2019 Author Posted February 15, 2019 Right. I guess I assumed OP wanted to increase the sound so it's easier to tell whether the AB is lit. Exactly...and also I like the sound. Why was it easy to do in other planes by increasing the Afterburner.sdef gain to a higher value but with F/A-18 it has no affect. There must be a way

I guess you mean that one: Well, I haven't heard this once yet in my copy of DCS, that's why I also tried to turn up that sound's volume. The file is there... but it isn't played at all, even if I add +15db(A) to it The only reason I know it should be there is Wags' videos...

Now I understand why editing the Afterburner.sdef has no affect, it's not triggered when you are in afterburner like the F-15 as an example.
