legearre Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 With so much capability and information fusion in the platform plus the joy of multi crew with a friend, any hope of a 18D down the road (such as what the USMC uses), maybe as a DLC for some additional cost? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ignition Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Oh it would be awesome, but I'm sure not possible.
ravenzino Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I'm up for that, even with some additional cost~ i9-9900K, G.Skill 3200 32GB RAM, AORUS Z390 Pro Wifi, Gigabyte Windforce RTX 2080 Ti, Samsung 960 Pro NVMe 512G + 860 Pro 1T, TM Warthog HOTAS, VKB T-Rudder, Samsung O+ F/A-18C, F-16C, A-10C, UH-1, AV-8B, F-14, JF-17, FC3, SA342 Gazelle, L-39, KA-50, CEII, Supercarrier Preordered. (Almost abandoned: CA - VR support please?) PG, NTTR
viper2097 Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Its easy. Check yourself if all systems used in that aircraft are unclassified. If so, then it could come to DCS. If not, then probably not, because DCS tries to be a simulation and not a guessing game. Steam user - Youtube I am for quality over quantity in DCS modules

It has zero bearing on whether something gets in. Fact : A-10C, F-18C, and AV-8 are CURRENT GEN actively used combat aircraft with classified systems. Yet they're in. Classification is also not relevant to whether information is available, it affects whether it is LEGAL. All of which is irrelevant if you get permission from the government and IP holder responsible for the aircraft. US DoD and Boeing give permission? You can do it. They don't? You can't. In some cases these entities PROVIDE classified data with conditions on its usage. Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
ben_der Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Would be a great trainer aircraft for people to learn the weapon systems, could use it in missions where you want to split workload or just a second pair of eyes. Wouldn't even need jester since everything can be done in the Pilot Pit already. Would really add to the Multi Crew Experience in MP.
legearre Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 Absolutely. No need for a Jester AI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Capn kamikaze Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I really hate this oft repeated, complete bs about classification. Complete agreement with this, this excuse for not doing stuff is trotted out all the time, and just shows a lack of thought by those who do. The fact is that every plane/heli/vehicle/weapon in this sim is to one extent or another a simulation, and to one extent or another an approximation, the only one's that potentially could be 100% correct would be things like the CE2, Yak, and WW2/early jet age stuff, everything else will be partly guesswork, educated guesswork in most cases, but guesswork none the less. So keeping that in mind, even if something were classified, that is not a valid reason to not try to simulate it. It's a defeatist attitude, and it doesn't add anything to anything.
legearre Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 Bigger than if information is classified, it’s more just the case, is the information available? For the Lot 20 F18D, you want to think/hope it is, like with the C. Next, how many hours would it take, the cost of those hours, and can ED therefore make the kind of profit on it to justify not putting the dev hours elsewhere. Clearly the 16 is next and will take some time to get it to release, but maybe if afterwards the f4 information remains unavailable, there might be a window to fit in an 18D project. It could potentially be a dev multi crew risk reducer prior to the f4 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
