Hi Teka,

would it be possible for you to create a mod which sort of changes the colours of the lod far model for the ground objects so the blend in a bit more with the surroundings and are thus not so easily detectable from 10 or more miles ?

if it is possible to do this, it would be cool and it would make things a bit more realistic for the groundpounders.

cheers mate

You can do that without a mod.

Edit ObjectFogMultiplier in Config\graphics.cfg.

ObjectFogMultiplier = 0.6;

Higher the number, more transparent ground vehicles become at far. At 1.0 the transparency will be same as the other ground structure objects. But they might look like ghosts in the TVM.

got mine set a lod = 5,0 for the ground objects but the objectfog para is at 0,6. that must be the stock setting - however is there no way of changing the colour from black to say a green or a brown if they are not within the lod distance ?

Strictly speaking, those options open for the end-users are one more open door to cheat in online competitions.

LOL! I'm not sooo deep into that...

As one of those fast-jet-whiners I usually find my targets via sensors. :D

Noti and I were having a conversation about this last night. We were running in on some targets on HL yesterday and from about 10 miles out at 12,000ft we could determine exactly where targets were, which were armoured (Large black dots) and which were light (Small black dots). The only things we couldn't see easily were MANPADS.

It also gets to the point that when you're running in, you use your HUD to ID the armoured targets, and slew the designator over them, then use the MAV-D's seeker head to ID that target (which isn't great I know). If it's not a high threat, you go back to the HUD and look for the next "Large black dot"

I don't really have a problem with the size of the dots, but as Noti said, they stick out way too much. Here is a screenshot of something similar to what we saw...

Targets.png

This was taken at 10,000ft 15 km from the closest vehicle using no zoom. It's quite difficult to capture as a still image, as the dots do "shimmer", but when you're moving, they're even clearer.

1 is a BTR-70

2 is a T-80

3 is an SAU

4 is a ZSU-23/4

5 is a convoy of 4 vehicles, which one is the ZSU? :smilewink:

Thanks for the tip TekaTeka, I'll give it w whirl too.
