In LockOn:FC with my Radeon X1950 Catalyst™ 7.7 Display Driver for Windows XP sometimes gives me corruption. I get bad corruption if I put on Heat Blur and move water to max. I want to know what others do, what drivers andc settings with a similar video card. I don't have frame rate problems..

Sometimes I don't get any problems, or soemtimes a reboot corrects the problems. But I expected better with the video card. maybe the driver version isn't as good as it could be? I don't know.

Anyone else?

I've just got a Sapphire X1950 Pro 512mb AGP today (woohoo!), using the current 7.7 Catalysts with it and so far haven't experienced a single problem with Lockon 1.12 or even with the 1.2 beta, not sure what could be causing your issues

I have noticed you're still using AGP like i am, have you tried changing AGP aperture size? mines set down to 64 currently.

Might I suggest that you turn down the water mod effect. It may fix your problem. There is a nice download for water and gives you better FPS. Water on high setting is a knowen problem with any card. Lockon is CPU heavy and you will probably not see much difference in the newest cards. Biggest difference would be PCIE. I to have an X series card updated from a 9550 gamer edition. Saw very little in graphics but went to a faster cpu, now that was a noticable difference. Good Luck. Hope this helps and Hope you find your solution. Cheers.

P.S. I read somewhere in a tech forum that your aperature setting should be half your video card. 128 to 64, 256 to 128, 512 to 256. Not my idea but I run mine at 128 and it works better than at 64(default). Just some info I picked up and do not know if it is a valid statement.

It ran fine again,, It only seems to go bad when I bump up some graphics in the game. I cannot bump the Heat Blur up.. which is very odd, I used to be able to,, I am trying to remember all the settings I cannot bump any more. I find this very odd. I used to have a Radeon 9800 in this computer and could actually run everything maxed out... but of course the FPS took a huge hit. With this new card I cannot run all settings maxed at the present time..

I have to look again and say which settings I cannot set higher...

I have been told that Cat 7.7 are not working well for others too. Anyone else like to add their experience with similar cards and Radeon X1950 or similar video cards?

Thanx..

I hate doing driver dances... next ATI Cat version comes out in about 2 weeks..

I have X1950XTX (PCI-E) and cat's 7.7 work fine here...

I don't know what's making you a really bad frame rate but may I suggest you leave visibility range to medium, water to medium, scenes to high, effects for high, set PCI latency in BIOS to 128 or more... also your frame rate will depends mostly on CPU anyway... but if you are getting graphics corruption you might as well reinstall video drivers.

Uninstall video drivers, run Driver cleaner pro... reinstall drivers again. maybe you could reinstall the game as well just in case something went wrong with game files...

Well, it sppears I can fly with no problems for a while now, but sometimes the corruption comes along and I have to exit the game.. strange...

It seems to have more problems close to the ground... which of course would mean the terrain...

well... I think the recent lockon patch has some bugs in it (graphics coding) because we all know LockOn will CTD if you have High watter coupled with overcast... and just out of curriosity I tried weather.dll from v1.0 (I think) which is in LockOn v1.1 backup folder, replaced it and I no longer CTD with High water and Overcast... go figure...
