Sonoda Umi Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 (edited) I did this operation from a Dogfight against MiG-29 video - taking the flaps down. BUT I couldn't sweep my wings back after shot the enemy down. The wing sweep and flaps control systems didn't work any more. Is this situation a BUG or an incorrect action? Bull0369 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 you put the flaps down at what speed? If too fast I think it is 220knots or around there then you damaged your flaps and hence they would not go up, and wings sweeping into down flaps would crush the flaps or the fuselage. Go here and read Victory's pdf on the first post. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=235701 its pinned.
lucky-hendrix Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 If flaps & SLats are down (not maneuver flaps). You can't retract wings past 20°, that is normal. So if your flaps are stuck from battle-damage/over speed. It is normal you can't retract the wings
Sonoda Umi Posted March 20, 2019 Author Posted March 20, 2019 My real question is how to use "flap tactic" appropriately? I mean that not damage the system but improve the turning capability.
lxsapper Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Actually I think the Damage model on the Slats/Flaps is fantastic. I had them get stuck in asymetric positions (from behing deployed beyond safe airspeed obviously) this sounds very mechanicaly feasible imho.
lxsapper Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 If you use the manovering Flaps/Slats, you should be ok. They auto retract.

Very feasible - and there is a checklist for it also  Vampire

There is no appropriate use of the flap tactic. You don't need flaps as you have huge wings and if you manage to get slow enough your maneuvering flaps will engage automatically anyway. The Mig29 can do a faster turn but if he doesn't kill you in the first circle he is probably toast as almost nothing can keep up with the Tomcat in a slow speed sustained turn fight. Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

I will try it later.
lxsapper Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Like I said above you can use your manuver flaps, acording to the sitution. They self deploy and also sef retract, but you can command them to do so as well, with the DLC thumb wheel.
