TrackIR Light Filter Threshold

I was getting red patches next to the 3 green dots in the TrackIR camera feedback display because I had bright windows in the daytime behind me. The head tracking would be erratic and unusable. So I could only use TrackIR in the evenings.

 

Then I discovered that under the TrackIR camera settings, if I set the Light Filter Threshold to max, the red patches and erratic behaviour went away and tracking was back to normal. Now I can use TrackIR properly even with the bright windows behind me in the daytime.

 

Just thought I'd share this in case it can help someone.

Thanks a lot for posting this, I have had similar problems when flying with my curtains open during the daytime, now it works perfectly no matter what the lighting conditions are.

I haven't installed curtains in my new place, lol, hence the issue. Glad I chanced upon this fix. Glad to have helped

Thanks for this. I have problems when wife is in kitchen w/ the ceiling can lights on. They are behind me and as she walks around Track IR goes nuts. She must block/unblock a reflection. I will try this trick.

If you have a lamp behind you that is in the soft white or 3,000 degrees Kelvin, it will project some Infra Red and affect the TIR sensors also.

If the light source behind is very bright you might still get one or two red patches but it is otherwise an effective fix. For light from windows, it should eliminate most if not all of those red patches.
