  • What is the Clearview option in messages action?
  • Also, there's a new "Start Delay" option - what is this?
  • Can I control AI lighting? I have AI strobes going off and they're lighting up half the airport - I don't think it's possible but I'm hoping I can get them to turn strobes off.
  • What is the best way to get AI to land or takeoff on a specific runway? On top of this, what is the best way to get said AI to land at a specific time? I'm trying to have an AI aircraft land when I am holding short for it. Also trying to get AI to takeoff and possibly even taxi to a specific runway.
  • Do I need to pair a Predator with a CP? I don't see the Predator showing up on the CP list. Is there a tutorial on how to set up drones for lasing targets?
  • Is there an easier way to build comms/chatter without having to manually do Flags and Time Since Flag? I've been doing Flag at key points, then 10 seconds = Message, 20 seconds = Response message, etc.
  • How do I install/find a template? I have a Carrier Group template I downloaded but I am not sure where to install it.
  • Is there a way to tweak the acceptable refueling "contact" area behind a tanker? Tanker seems incredibly picky about whether or not it'll "Clear Contact" or "Return Contact", so I'm left with stabbing the radio command until it triggers and releases the basket.

Thanks for the help, guys!

If memory serves clearview disables the opaque window that appears behind text messages.

There is no access to lighting; aircraft, airbase, or civilian unfortunately.

Not sure what you mean by a "CP". Drones can be tasked to designate targets with the FAC - Engage Group waypoint action. Check the "visible" box to ensure the drone always sees the target.

The only way I know to do conversations is TIME SINCE FLAG, outside of writing your own code, but really how else would you do it? Just be glad you can see the length of the file when you import it into the mission editor now...

Open the .miz containing the template. Click the "templates" icon. Select the group in the "create template from group" menu. Once you create the template it will be stored and available in all missions.

Nope. Get cozy before you ask and try to get your throttle set and your controls trimmed for relatively stable hands off flight.

No idea about "Start Delay." I'd recommend taking a few minutes and experimenting with it if you're curious.

Hi, here is a video were the author shows a usage example:

What is the best way to get AI to land or takeoff on a specific runway?

The only way I've found is to use the wind direction, as the ATC will always orient takeoffs and landings against the wind.

On top of this, what is the best way to get said AI to land at a specific time?

By default, you place the waypoints of a Unit using a certain Ground Speed (GS) ... change that to "Fix Time" and you will be able to specify the time of arrival instead ... the ME will adjust speeds acordingly, so take care not to get the unit too slow:

I'm trying to have an AI aircraft land when I am holding short for it.

Then the above may not fill the bill, because if you take shorter or longer to reach the runway you will miss the meeting.

It's better to have the AI flight a short distance from the runway and set to late activation ... then have your plane use a trigger zone on the taxiway, that will activate the AI when your airplane goes trough it.

Also trying to get AI to takeoff and possibly even taxi to a specific runway.

Each base has only a single active runway, determined by the wind direction ... so, no point on trying to force AI to taxi somewhere else.

Is there an easier way to build comms/chatter without having to manually do Flags and Time Since Flag? I've been doing Flag at key points, then 10 seconds = Message, 20 seconds = Response message, etc.

I use Random Air Traffic (a component of the moose scripting framework) to generate traffic around the area ... this in turn produces ATC background comms. It's easy to use and doesnt require much knowledge of scripting. Search for RAT to know more.

How do I install/find a template? I have a Carrier Group template I downloaded but I am not sure where to install it.

On DCS there are two types of templates: "Group" Templates and "Static Templates"

... the Group Templates are stored on a "templates.lua" file, located on \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\MissionEditor\data\scripts .. it isnt really meant to be edited and that makes it hard to share Group Templates.

... the Static Templates go into the \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\StaticTemplate folder and have filetype *.stm

Best regards

.
