Preendog Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 I use a little knob for a throttle with no detent, and I find it really hard to select full military power without sliding into afterburner. Is there a way to snap precisely to mil with a keypress? I didn't see anything like that in the controls (just keys for advancing and decreasing the throttle) Also, how does the real Hornet throttle handle this? Thanks
noisy_lightning Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 I use the FF and nozzle position indicator on the fuel panel to let me know when i am in burner and not.
Knives Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Finger lift. You can map it. And I think there is something in the settings to enable it. Sorry I'm speaking from memory.
discwalker Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 adjust controls/throttle quiadrant/cycle afterburner detent on-off and there is a default behaviour in options/special options GTX 1070 8GB, 16GB DDR3, W8.1 on SSD, DCS on another SSD
Darcwaynard Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Finger lift. You can map it. And I think there is something in the settings to enable it. Sorry I'm speaking from memory.This. In settings under special for F18 set detent to "always off". This way if you go full throttle you'll max out at full mil power. Map the AB detent button to whatever you like. Once you press it you'll be able to advance throttles into afterburner range and back again. Note you may have to rock the throttle back and forth to go into afterburner it won't just snap on. As stated above reference fuel flow or check physical throttle possition in jet until you get a feel for it. Been saving gas ever since I started using this method. :) Sent from my LG-H812 using Tapatalk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Amd Fx 8350 4.3 GHz - MSi Gtx 1060 6gb - 16gb DDR3 A-10C - AV8B - F-5E - Mig-21 - FC3 - CA - UH-1H - Black Shark - AJ3-37 - M-2000C - F-16C Viper - F-86F - Spitfire - Fw-190 - F/A-18C - F-14 - Normandy - NTTR - Persian Gulf
Zyll Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Within your control mappings, map finger lift, and not afterburner detent. That way, you can use the same procedure at the other end of your throttle to put your engines into idle.
Preendog Posted March 28, 2019 Author Posted March 28, 2019 That sounds perfect. So by 'finger lift' it means lifting a physical stop that normally blocks AB and full idle?
Zyll Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Yeppers. On the real throttle that's exactly what it is, a physical detent that you need to pull on the finger lift to push through.
