Jagr Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 I was wondering if there was any further news on the port over of the AN/AAQ 28 LITENING Pod from the AV8B after Wags announced around the first of the year that this would be introduced before the ATFLIR and shorten the wait substantially..
Emmy Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 I think there’s still one more HARM state to finish along with TWS Radar before they (may) get to the TGP for the Hornet. Jak525 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 It has been said by Wags that the Litening II targeting pod will be started when the AGM-88C HARM is complete. I imagine the ATFLIR will come sometime after. The HARM needs Pre-Briefed (PB) mode and the pullback function done. As much as the TGP is gonna be awesome, I think this is a good thing - we don't want them leaving things unfinished to work on the next.
Jagr Posted March 30, 2019 Author Posted March 30, 2019 Thanks for the reply, I would have thought that porting over a working Pod would have been higher up the priority list especially given that they have the LITENING already working to base it on..
AvroLanc Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 FLIR and LST captions have made their way onto the BIT page, there’s stuff going on in the background...... HARM PB in turn relies on the mission card update.

I think they've worked out that this is probably the most efficient way to get something done. Moving to monthly updates for the Hornet should hopefully make the process smoother and less buggy.
