VampireNZ Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) According to the manual page 231, PAL locks the first detected target out to 15nm. Had my friendly tanker on TACAN at 21nm and thought I would try PAL, but not expecting it to lock - it did. Probably locks further out but not tried, will update as necessary. Neuse Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I´d doubt those values are for tanker sized objects. Might be more for fighters. Try it with a helicopter if its still 20 it might be buggy.
Ignition Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I could lock a target at 25nm, I don't remember if it was a fighter or the tanker. I guess it should still be limited to 15nm.
Cobra847 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Locking distance is based on RCS IIRC. The manual table is based on a specific RCS. Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/

VampireNZ Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 My bad - checked with a SU-27 and yes PAL locked him up at exactly 15nm. No bugs. Vampire
Krag6 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I've gotten 32 mile lock on bear. So yeah RCS matters.
