How to calculate the course

Hi how to calculate the right course of the carrier's deck if for example the carrier set to course to 351 degrees

 

From Natops manual the deck has 170° of difference follow an image, bye

Deck is offset 10 degrees to the left so in your example 341 degrees.

 

The 170 in the picture is in reference to if you bolter and beed to go back to try another approach.

Don't forget about Magnetic declination or variance. This will change based on what map your on. In addition to adjusting for runway heading - the -10 degrees from the ships heading - you;ll need to adjust for the mag. declination of the map area.

The ship's BRC (course) should be put in HSD, not the runway angle. You want to know the direction the ship is moving so you can keep a decent profile when landing case 1 or case 3.

 

That's assuming you want to fly boat ops as they do it for real.

If you don't care about that, then just take the ship's course from the F10 map and subtract 10 degrees from it.

On a Case III you want the ‘final bearing’ , not the BRC. Also, remember that the F10 map heading is true not magnetic. You’ll need to adjust for variation before setting in HSD.
