FoxTwo Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 According to the fighter pilot podcast episode 012 (Aircraft Carriers Pt2) 32m:38s, the night launch ready signal was to turn on all of the exterior lights, since a salute from the pilot wouldn't necessarily be visible to the deck crew. Will this be modeled for the F-14?

Victory205 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I believe it's only the formation lights, no? No, all lights were turned on with the pinky switch. It's in the works. Fly Pretty, anyone can Fly Safe.

Victory205 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 So, IRL the aircraft stays dark until ready for the shot? Yep. Turning the lights on on a carrier deck signaled Brake Failure to the crew, and they would attempt to throw chocks, chains and small Ordnancemen under the wheels. Pilots would look for something inexpensive to run into. Like an F18... Fly Pretty, anyone can Fly Safe.
