Description of overall DCS architecture?

Maybe someone can point to it - I am very curious as to the deployment of DCS in general. Perspective: coming from World of Tanks, there is an eco system of multiple company run servers handling the 10s of thousands of clients playing the game.

Based on what I've read, DCS comes at it from another way - run your own server if you wish or find one that's open to the public. Have I got this correct?

Thanks

That's correct .. the Company only runs the Server that keep track of all the private Servers that are online and provides for you the Multiplayer page of the Sim.

yes, its like in the older games such as counter-strike. someone runs a gameserver on his computer and you join it as a client to play there.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X

GPU: AMD RX 580

Yes, you've got that right. None of the servers are run by ED and the MP system isn't centrally controlled per se, apart from the server lobby you'll see when you start MP.

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

or I guess okay :) sort of like bzflag (in the old days). I'll keep poking around. Maybe one day I'll triple up my monitors.

Appreciate all the answers.
