DflippinK Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 1080p you should be fine!!! lock it with vsync @ 60hz if you can get your R1600 to around 3.7ghz (should be a piece of cake), and spread evenly across a few cores, you will never have to think about it again... probably fine stock anyways though.. For GPU, i think you'll be able to get away with most everything... Shadows can be taxing, so run them Flat... Try somethin like this... and maybe use the SSAA instead of MSAA.. test it out and adjust how you want it, but i think that ought to run pretty nice for ya. DflippinK Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Way too much... I just get 20fps on a 1080 with less... ok... i was probably over-optimistic for the 1060 6g.. but, this suprises me... there are a LOT of factors that can destroy performance... but i upgraded from a 1080 which handled these settings just fine @1440p... if you can monitor your GPU load while flying, it is good practice to aim for about 75% to leave yourself headroom for large graphic instances... this becomes pretty much unachievable when you attempt to chase fps.. Vsync@60hz is key for setting the load baseline... @1920x1080, you should have no problem rendering frames,.... unless you do for some reason "ex. oversaturated primary core".... it has been a while since ive had the 1080 in my machine, and i have noticed some variations in performance in DCS,.. but nothing too significant... of course,... there is always, aside from a myriad of configurable settings to choose from, a myriad of hardware and software glitches, conflicts, and incompatibilities.. and general maintenance tasks.. DCS does seem to like to be thoroughly configured to get the best out of your hardware.. just have to sometimes bend your brain or trial&error to find a good solution.. sorry for my potential and likely probable misquote of settings for the 1060 6g... if it doesnt work well,.. set ALL Shadows Flat Water Med Visibility High or Med MSAA x2 or OFF Drop the Trees Visibility slider to the midrange Also... Always make a habit of routinely clearing out the contents of: C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\metashaders2 ..with any updates of DCS, Nvidia Drivers, Mods, and ever so often with Graphics Settings adjustments... meant to help... sorry if i didnt... was very sleepy.:joystick: Ryzen R7 1800x|EVGA FTW3 1080Ti|32gb Corsair Dominator Platinum@2666mhz|Samsung 750 EVO|LG 4k 50" Main Display|ASUS PB278Q Reference Display|
delevero Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I ran dcs world prefect on 2560x1440 with more than 60fps with a 1060 oc 3gb and was very positive surprised how well this card run anything. I was even able to run dcs world in VR with pimax 5k+ on low resolution. My old 1080gtx crushed anything and could play anything on ultra. And my new 2080rtx is even better especially for VR pimax 5k+ ryzen 2700x ( 8 cores 16 threats 3700mhz auto oc to 4600mhz ) 16gb ddr 4 ram. PS.. turning shadows off always is a good way to get more fps.

These things probably will help quite much already. My low fps are a recent problem of DCS anyway, before they dropped, I was around 55-70 mostly. In the end, everyone has to tweak them to his own likings. On my rig (see below) I run this at the moment: And on my old card I ran this: Note the trees were higher, I set them back some time ago with the 1080 trying to reduce stutters, had them at 100% there as well for quite a while. Probably will crank it up again. Win 7 64 Pro · Gigabyte GA Z77-D3H (BIOS v.23b) · Intel i5 3570k · Crucial Ballistix Tactical 32GB CL8 DDR3-1600 · Corsair Force GT 120GB + Crucial MX100 512GB on ASUS U3S6 PCIe x4 MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G (419.35) · SB X-Fi Elite Pro (6.0.1.1375) · VIA HD onboard audio (6.0.1.8700) · Eizo EV2436WFS-BK · Teufel Concept E Magnum MS FFB2 · MFG Crosswind · MS P2 + PP (sliders) · Dual Saitek Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant · HOTAS Warthog Throttle · TrackIR 4 (5.1.3) The 1060 basically is pretty comparable to a 970, but a bit faster and it has more RAM so you should be good to go with high texture settings. I had massive stutters with that on my 970. So I guess something in between will be the key

So I guess something in between will be the key if you can, drop cockpit resolution from 1024 Every frame.. to just 1024... also, cockpit global illumination off will give you a bit more headroom..and additionally, you can put both Terrain shadows and Shadows to flat... should free up your card quite a bit...
