electricaltill Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Hello, Can anyone explain the usefulness and use of the Computer address panel ? ThanksI think before expecting any answer of such a broad question, it is only reasonable for you to indicate that you have read and digested the appropriate parts of the manual we all have access to. Because you haven't.

Thanks for your help, manual doesn't explain how to use cap and there so many videos. Good idea to do RIO training mission. shagrat Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Well, I copy pasted some pointers where to look and learn. That is ok for me... ;) Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
lunaticfringe Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 I thought this forum was made to help each other but apparently you're not here for that. He was absolutely helping you. The functionality of the CAP demands study, not Cliffs Notes. It's not a system that prides itself in shortcuts or cribbed answers. Thus, spending the time to RTFM is absolutely the right suggestion for your question.
Flamin_Squirrel Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 He was absolutely helping you. Were they? Please consider that OP was asking what the CAP does, not how to use it. As far as I can see, a single paragraph outlining its purpose would have answered the former (e.g. it's for interfacing with various navigation, targeting and radar functions). RTFM would only be a reasonable response to the latter.
lunaticfringe Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Were they? Please consider that OP was asking what the CAP does, not how to use it. Can anyone explain the usefulness and use of the Computer address panel ? "usefulness *and* use"- OP explicitly said he wanted to know what it does, and how it's used. A single paragraph detailing what it does is the first item in the Computer Address Panel section of HBs manual, and how it is used is the balance of it. Your read was incorrect; hence the fact RTFM is absolutely the correct response. The forum is to help with questions related to using the hardware based on information in the manual- not to supplant it wholesale.
Flamin_Squirrel Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Your read was incorrect; No that's your opinion; I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, this argument serves no purpose. Help, or ignore the OP. No need to put the boot in.
lunaticfringe Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 It's not my opinion; it's the words the OP used- your argument is with him. *shrug*
shagrat Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 (edited) Basically he asked "what is that and what should I do with it". So I pointed to the manual page / site, where the "what is it" is covered, plus some "what to do with it". Then the video of the training mission to give a pointer how using it for setting the initial coordinates looks in game. Finally a "subtle" hint to the RIO training missions. I think this covers everything needed to get started. No need to "attack" the OP for being lazy (or give him an RTFM), as this is very discouraging, if you have more important questions, yet neither we need to write an extensive elaboration of the CAP options and functions... at least not before the OP has additional questions on details of specific Message Categories. From the answer it does not look like he was too lazy, but a bit lost where to find info. And some people learn easier from reading stuff, others do better with showcasing, video or basic try and error... People are different and that's a good thing. :) Edited April 24, 2019 by shagrat Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)

English isn't the OP's native language, and he makes efforts to communicate in a language he doesn't speak fluently. He reads messages in English, looks at videos in English, reads the manual in English en endures sarcasm in English with a forbearance that honours him. I hope ED will maintain a forum for non-Russian speaking users, so you can cut the hairs in four in a language you understand well. Edited April 25, 2019 by *Aquila*
