Macross: F-14's VS Mig-29's and...robots

Recommended Posts

FOr whom didnt know this series:

MAcross zero prequel remake in 2003 I think.

Quite surreal, specialy the first few minutes. The rest of the series pretty interesting as well on a different way.

I Just discovered the macross universe, I have never watched it when as a kid, not only there was the original series dated from early 80's making it probably one of the most advanced for its time I have seen, but it had many other sequel series. I recommend it for manga Japanese fans.

I have macross Plus movie, its awsome.

Welcome to the club Pilotasso ;)

Some of the series make you go 'uh ... um ... ' but Plus and Zero certainly turned out well.

Despite de site saying that content is not avaibale I searched E-mule. WOW never heard of that series. Looks awasome. I just dont know why the japanese are the only ones to explore certain themes. Everybody else making trash these days (with the exeption of the Simpsons :D ).

Off-topic:

Area 88 was also known as "U.N. Squadron" in Europe/US.

It was for Arcade coin-ops and the SNES (had it on SNES :P).

The series linked by Colt40Five is the remake series, which is the 3rd version of Area 88. :)

1) There was a manga version which is the only complete story (hard to find in english, "found" it in Korean and the english script of the last chapters so I know what happens (in a way...), but the artwork is old manga style, close to Lupin the 3rd :P.

2) The OVA version which was 3 long episodes.

Artwork was better than the manga, had a different ending, smaller story, quite violent at times.

3) The remake anime series which still doesn't explore the whole story and also alters it a bit, but has the best artwork (well, it's the newest :P) and best (if unrealistic at times) airplane combat. ;)

There is also info about it in the Wikipedia.

On-Topic:

Sometime, I must get some of the Macross episodes, there are quite a few series around. I remember when Robotech (US title for first (?) Macross series) aired in Greece.

Had a nice intro music. :)

And some scenes from later series too, If I'm not mistaken. :P

@ Ghost Rider

UN Squadron was one of my favorite games ever on the snes. From attacking an aircraft carrier on tank treads in the desert or dropping bombs on other airplanes. It was a seriously fun game

Fun thing is, the aircraft carrier on treads was also in the manga Area 88. :P

Well, it lasted for a few chapters, I don't remember how it got destroyed though.

I also recommend searching by tags, and typing in "aviation", there are very very nice aviation videos @ stage6
